I don't think you should have used him as an example KIA...and MJ is still my dearly beloved. I wish the kids all the best.

Clarification Britisha: I said MJ was a single parent who could afford the support system needed for his kids. I did not say he was an example of a great single parent but a person who chose to parent and was able to afford the support the kids need.

Sorry if I misunderstood you KIA, that clears up a lot...for from my response you can see that I don't think that MJ was all that as a single parent...having the children walk in public with veils over their faces, dangling one from a doing creepy things that can emotionally and adversely affect the child later on.


Remember that there will be someone out there who will be eager to remind them...

Well said, and that will be an enormous feat...it is not easy to raise even 1 child by 2 parents, much less by 1 parent. This is why I say they gotta be tough. [in a nutshell]

Well, I'm not so sure how &quot;subjective&quot; nor can be, since norms are usually culturally originated..

suffice it to say, since you mentioned this, have we noticed how those countries where there r strict[er] expectations concerning marriage and parenting, the crime rate is waay below that of some other countries where it is not?

What I find selfish are women who are lead by narrow/closed-minded beliefs, who try to project their way of thinking on to others.

In this culture of no privacy, selfish women find it easy to gather one-sided information to use to pass judgement on others who are at times forced to accept an &quot;alternate&quot; lifestyle, to what is dictated by society.

Everyone is at risk. No one is protected from the possibility of providing for a child as a single parent. How they choose to raise that child or those children is the only measure that really counts.

There are numerous types of circumstances that can cause a woman to raise a child on her own. Any woman could be weeks pregnant when the sperm donor disappears for whatever reason. What would she tell her child? Will that child automatically become dysfunctional? It would be selfish and silly to say that the child would, because there is no father present. This logic supports that which said that all black children who where not raised in a two-parent household are destined to fail. What difference does it make why the father is absent? An absent father is an absent father...the mother has to manage the best way she knows how, as mothers have been doing for eons.

None of us (unless we are perfect) have the right or enough information to conclude that an independent adult woman, who chooses to have a child via any method she CHOOSES, is in any way different from any other single parent.

Further, AI does not necessarily mean that the woman cannot find a man. More of us need to realize that today's woman is Independent and Liberated and have gained the right to choose.

I thought about this thread, too.. and I think there's a distinct/huge difference between a woman of child bearing age making a conscious d decision to have a child on her own..and a women way past child bearing age circumventing nature to have a child (<span style="font-style: italic">and I would say the same whether or not the woman is single</span>)
