Yuh know unno sey swingers.. Dat popular rond here so. So mi not surprised bout dat overall.
Mi neighbourse right behind me have wan hot tub when mi see nuh suspicious things gwaan alrady.
One night before we had the fence up. They were round there with two other couples in the tub.
me round the back wid mi reaggae musica a beat and mi bamboo torch dem a blaze.
Mi hear "xKs why dont you and ladyxKs come join us!?"

So mi mumble something sheepishly inna twang like "Someother tiome maaan.. it too cold for me maaan"
and a so mi get outta dat one.
Since dem the fence went up, but mi can still see business chue mi upstairs window.

Mi see aneda set a neighbours beside me a go ova deh somenights. Dem look innocent, but mi suspicious a di wan dem whey own di tub.

Thing is - back home , mi was a social animal..
Promoting sessions, PTA, PR fi Citizen association, communty block leader, PR fi company sport club, caffe, environment committe leader, manage football team, member of all kinda social and community developmental committes, di works.
Mi always involved with people, and doing community stuff.
Infact I was telling THE SAME wife lady bout how we do Labour day back home, and she was amazed and was saying that we should do something like that for our community here. you know the community get together and find a common project to work on, and at the end a di day wi run a boat with music and thing.


Here its a diffrent kettle a fish. Fortunately wifey is the opposite a mi, and mi have "stubbornly" been morphing into the anti-socialite.
Not that we a cave people, but we keep to wi self for the most part. Despite being bombarded with invites to social stuff.
Thing is - u keep to uself, u potentially branded a bigot, u socialize, u stand fi potentially get in chobble.

So the concensos is dont go huh?
Thats where the pendulum has swung on my side too - for now.

ppl at work fe some reason believe seh mi hate yt ppl, mi nuh kno why doe. Neighbours couldan tink de said ting tuh, but I am not here fe dem, I have tings fi duh and when it seem mi nuh ha nuttin fi duh, fi de good of my soul it need fe rest. Yuh cyaan ress yuh soul roun yuh naybah dem cah all dem waan duh is inna yuh business, dere is no ress in dat. Dat is supm many ppl figget dat dem soul an spirit need a ress tuh, not jus de body.

yup.. and personally. My experience in canada show me that even as an adult, peer presure is a bi---ch..

Mi started here.. from ja.. one bakkle a rum lasted a year, beer? mi probably drank two six paks in a year.

Here.. as the years went.. Winter after winter mi alchohol intake went up.
One bakkle a run in a month.
Beer was a sixpack a week. two weeks at most.

A few months ago, mi took stock and sey.. "mi neva use to do dem things a yard, so WHY should I become a slave to something here and at this stage in mi life??"

So a few months ago (a think in September) mi cut off beer completely, and a bakkle a rum opened in November still almost full.
And mi feel good - depression less and when mi miss mi family, mi put on mi regga CD or DVD and journey off into another world pon di music.
Plus mi now have a regiment a Vitamin, Cod liva oil and Dr. King Sulphur Bittas.. Chuss mi.. you are what u eat, cause since dem mi feel betta.

now on the weekend, mi gone back pon di beers and di heapa rum. Despite the fact that mi voice over and over seh mi off dem things. in a way it also made mi aware dat mi need to recognize peer pressure and deal wid it accordingly.
Cause same way mi youth dem ago face dem pressurese, and mi need fi lead dem the right way.
