Darn it what was that movie, I just watched it the other day...but they used selective genetics to breed so all the children came out with 20/20 vision and no other genetic defects like shortness and balding...looks to me like we are not too far away from that [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

I was in a similar situation. I was on birth control and got pregnant. I found out I was pregnant at almost 5 months. I just thought i was gaining weght from the pills. I went to the doctor with only 2 weeks left to abort if I chose because that would have been the 5 month mark. There was a chance of having a mentally retarded baby and I couldn't do it. I made the choice of having the abortion. I feel no regret. I have had more kids and have not had another abortion since and that was 9 years ago. It all has to do with the persons lifestyle and what they know they can handle emotionally. She already has kids and does she really think she could handle the stress of watching another child in pain from a disease. The only bad thing is that disease is hereditary and there is a chance that if she gets pregnant again the same thing would happen. What then? In the end it's up to her and it's something she needs to work out on her own and apperently both parents have made the desicion they can live with, she just needs your support. It is a really scary thing especially since she can already feel the fetus moving. but it still is her choice.

I know this is a personal question but i feel very concerned uhm how did you get pregnant while on the pill? Did you miss a day? I fret about these things alot you know to the point that i will avoid S due to not wanting to have children any time soon. I take mines religiously and well very careful otherwise anyways how did it occur, i know it's long ago do you remember...i hope the pills nowadays stronger

Tuffy - I had a friend that did this and she had to go back it was a two day procedure she was 4 going on 5 months, if I remember correctly.

To the original poster - I'm not sure how close you are to your friend. You said you've been friends for 2 decades. I do understand your stance, however, I have a friend and we've been friends for 25 years and I'd dyam sure be there for her. She's done MANY things that I do not agree with (and vice versa), even close to murdering someone. You best to believe if she needs me and it's possible I'm there. Friends should be there when you really need them and in this situation it sounds like your friend really needs you (that's why she asked). I know it's hard for you as well, bu my heart ached for a minute when you said you wouldn't go [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] just because you don't agree with her decision.
