Canceling Aunt Flo

Has anyone else heard about the latest trend...apparent?

There is some method of stopping Aunt Flo from visiting if there are other important things on the agenda such as vacation plans, booty calls etc??? [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img]

Yes there are ways to do that, When we set the date for the wedding, my doctor and I counted backwards to figure out which day would be best to start bc just to avoid having in in the week before and during the wedding.

One way to avoid an entire month is to skip the five day low or nodose and go straigt to the next pack.

Or you can use seasonal which means only 4 per year.

I knew about the 5 days on the pack but I didn't realize people were actually using the "stop n go" method as often. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shocked.gif[/img]

Are there or do you know of any side effects?

Years ago before I had Imanni I was on a birth control shot called Depo Provera. It literally STOPPED my flow. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img]
I did not have a monthly for over a year, and no side effects.

Every 3 months I went into the GYN and got a shot in my baxside. They called to remind me so I never forgot, and it was very nice for a while...
I was off the shot for 1 year before I got pregnant as recommended.

After Imanni I asked a (new GYN) to put me back on the shot and he was hesitant [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70402-thinking.gif[/img]

Not sure if more research has been done about this type of birth control, but I had NO COMPLAINTS [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img]

my understanding is that when you take birth control pills - that your period is "simulated" to provide comfort

it's not a real period - it comes on because you stop taking the hormones but it is not caused like a period (vaginal lining slough off)when you're not taking the pill

and ladies - when you stop your period - it's replaced by hot flashes and sometime weight gain - and a few other things we can discuss in another forum [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/desdentado.gif[/img] - i'm there [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/helpsmilie.gif[/img] and it's not all good [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img]

I have been on the shot for 9 years no aunt flo for that long!! I put a few pounds on thats it.

Can't take the pills they make me depressed and I forget to take them... I love my shot every 3 months I get poked. I never forget cause they call and remind me.

Aunt Flo! Never heard this before... Have you heard the phrase "having the painters in"?

If your not on the pill, you can take progesterone tablets quite safely to postpone your period temporarily, when you stop them, it'll then come.

It's safe to take the combined pill continually, with no periods. It is just a withdrawal bleed. When the pill was first devised the only reason for the withdrawal bleed was to hopefully make it acceptable to catholics!

Regards the injection. There has been some association with osteoporosis after taking it continually for longer than 2 years. This is not a reason to discontinue, but you should have a chat with you doctor.

Another good way of having no nasty "aunt flo" is to take progesterone only pill - cerazette - which stops periods for most women and has very few side effects.

Oh they got me taking calcium vitamins just for my bones plus I am a big milk drinker.. My doc had a talk with me about that last week.

</div></div>you my friend were one of the lucky ones. There are many severe side effects from Depo. That I and other friends have experienced. It is not something I would reccommend to my worst enemy..okay maybe to her....IMO it should be taken off the market.

all these things seem to come with there side effects sooner or later.

For instance anyone here been on the pill (or shot) for a long time (like years) and have problem concieving? or lost the first baby? I have been hear about alot of that...
