that's the one thing I hate about having co-workers. Some expect you to be their best friends and chat your personal life with them and if you dont something must be wrong with you - hence the start to make up crap.

u dont have a teacher's union where you live, so u can go to them for direction on how to handle this?

Hush ILP but I would call a meeting a let yu boss and other know that what is been said about you is been repeated by the students. Document the meeting even if nothing comes out of this they will know you're on to them.

i'd confront her...but i'd make sure her superior was there when it happened.

you are there to TEACH...as is she....i fail to see how discussing and speculating on your personal life is any of her business....and it surely is HIGHLY INAPPROPRIATE for her to be doing that with students.

she is in the WRONG....no getting around that. I'd waste no time in dealing with it.

I know you can do this calmly and professionally....now go give her a big fat lip.

suh mi call di union ahn tell dem wah gwan.
dem ask mi fi go into details about wah happen.
dem seh:

1. wah di offending parties have done is very inappropriate.
2. they dont mind coming into the building to do a mediation.
3. however i need to know that my principal (or his designate) will have to be informed <u>prior</u> to their (the union's) arrival what has transpired. it gives him (mi principal) a chance to rectify the issue.
4. however, since it is so personal, i should think about whether or not i want the issue exaserbated (sp?) by involving them [the union] (which they certainly dont mind doing).

i would go the union rep route & round up all the usual subjects.

stating your purpose being there is to teach the students and that is what you are doing

your personal life is that .. personal and you will not discuss your personal life at work

then mention how unbecoming it is of teachers to gossip and in such a manner that students are carrying this information, therefore distracting THE STUDENTS whom they are being paid to teach, from learning their subjects.

were it me...i'd try to resolve first at the school...if it escalates, then bring it to the union office. but just do it on whatever turf you feel comfortable.
