That sure is a cute baby. RL, please don't braid it, or put vaseline, or oil or any chemicals in her hair. Washing her hair once a month is absolutely NOT hygenic. Every other day is perfectly fine.

Your boyfriend would probably be spot on if this was a black baby girl...but his advice probably won't suit your daughter. He's probably thinking of what was done for his sisters etc.
Black hair is drier than white hair - it usually needs to be moisturized (vaseline, pink oil moisturizer etc). to make it softer and more comb-able. Foir the same reason most black women don't wash their hair every day like white women do (I remember being SHOCKED at that in college - the same way my white friends were shocked that I DIDN't wash my hair every day.) If you wash it every day it would lose its natural oils and get too dry. White women's hair is oilier so it needs to be washed daily to prevent it looking stringy.....so I was told. Anywayz...and plaiting is usually a good way of styling black girls' hair as well. I think your daughter would look nice in plaits too.
I think it's ridiculous that he feels your daughter needs to have brand name clothes! There's nothing wrong with regular clothes you get at Target, Walmart etc - they're just as good and cheaper. Sadly, so many black people feel that their clothes define who they are.. waste of money if you ask me. Especially if she's going to grow out of them just now. That money could be put to much better use.
