any tips fe dealing wid the physical pains of grooming black long extra thick hair, without it taking days of course? maybe it is just how to maintain the hands, no idea.

Don't comb it every day. Most of the women (even the relaxed ones) say they keep their hair in twists or a bun and only comb it once a week.

There's no reason for it to be physically painful either - I detangle in the evening and sleep with a scarf. In the morning time, the comb just glides through and done. I would like to stop combing in the morning all together, but the habit is too ingrained.

My shampoo and detangling instructions
1. Detangle hair lightly using fingers to separate tangles.

**optional step** I may do a pre-shampoo treatment before I shampoo using olive oil mixed with conditioner if hair is extremely tangled.

2. Part hair with fingers and separate into 4-6 sections secured by large loose braids or twists.

3. Rinse thoroughly with tepid water for 1-2 min with each section still secure. scrub scalp lightly while rinsing.

4. Apply shampoo with pads of fingers focusing on scalp and scrub using circular downwards motions creating a nice rich lather. Do not undo twists.

5. Cleanse the hair by squeezing the lather throughout the loose hair and through to the ends and rinse with warm water.

6. Undo each section, apply conditioner and twist/braid each section back up. Leave conditioner on for desired amount of time with plastic cap. Add heating cap if desired.

7. After conditioner has been on for desired amount of time, detangle each section with a wide tooth comb then rinse off conditioner with warm water and do a final cold water rinse to help close the cuticles.

8. Add leave-in + styling products, comb products through and Style!
