No but i can just tell....how you fi comb out locks in a black persons hair after it gets so knotted? I know a bi-racial woman with locks and she had to cut her hair off to get out the locks. She half white and that couldn't comb out much less a fully black person...

so. if your locks were 17 inches long and you combed them out you had 17 inches still? or was it much much shorter than your locks had been?

been there done that and mine was waaaay shorter

my locks weren't long at the time but they were locked. when I took them down, comb, wash and two strand twist my hair it was the same length of my locs. But I totally agree at a lot of hair came out. The reason why it was about the same length is that when your hair is locked up it shrinks.

locks is live growing hair like any other hair or it wouldn't grow...
when i wash my locks the bathtub full of the hair that shed from your scalp...
the hair that dies breaks off from your locks...
it grows because of growth from the scalp or it couldn't get long past mi waist...it is NOT somehow clumps of dead hair sticking together to give the illusion of long hair...it IS long hair...
i would excuse this kind of talk coming from a non-african...but from africans it's pathetic...

Apparently the woman had had locks for several years. Her hair once combed out looks to be about 2-3 inches shorter than the locks. That's not bad considering some people lose as much taking down weaves and micros or other braids.

It took the person 2 weeks to comb out the locks. There's even a product for unlocing hair. If I find it, I'll post a picture/link.

Black women with tall hair

Some of the comments about "mixed" hair annoyed me a bit. So you know me, I just had to find proof that the myth that black people's hair can't reach great lengths unless it's "mixed" or in locks is just that: a myth.

These women have natural afro hair, i.e. no relaxers, texturizers, etc.:
