oh, i misunderstood you....you didn't cut yer hair....you just want less gray.

i dunno.....i can't deal with the stress of upkeep....i hear you can spend an awful lot of time & money on coloring....& i like to keep all my money going to jamaica, not miss clairol.

I used to use Henna and loved the results. But I haven't seen Natural Henna in many many years. It was difficult to rinse out, but did no damage. Totally natural plant product.

For grey &amp; white hair there are shampoos to keep the yellow out. They have a "bluing agent" I believe. Most are purple.
My mom uses one by Jherri Redding.

I am also teetering on the edge of going natural. I have a big streak of grey coming in on the top of my head, toward the front/middle that I totally love, it's the rest of the color (my own) that is soooooo boring. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70361-embarassed.gif[/img] I have always gone a few shades lighter and my hair naturally lightens to a reddish color.
BUTT!!! every time I get to the point where it's been growing in for a while, a big occassion like a wedding comes up and I have to grab the L'Oreal so I don't look such a mess.

I'd love to lighten without any toner. The sun in JA does a fabulous job of lighteneing my hair.... hmmmmmm... [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70402-thinking.gif[/img]

Thanks for the info on henna, Q.K. Have you tried lemon juice to brighten your hair up a bit?

About the henna, a few reports I've read says not rinsing it out completely makes your hair feel dry. I'm leaning towards using cassia obovata (neutral henna) because I want shinier, stronger hair, but not the orange-red coloring. I've also read that henna can be used in conjonction with indigo, but that sounds like even more mess...and stains on bathroom fixtures!

My hair has been salt and peppah for years, I started coloring it 2 years ago a reddish color, to make me look younger, so my daughter says [img]/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img].......anyway after being diagnosed with breast cancer, and starting chemo I shaved my head, and after chemo was done I was hoping my gray and white hair would come back a color....maybe the opposite of Marilyn's. I was longing to gray, then I started and the salt and pepper did look good although it wasnt much, then one hairdresser decided to highlight mi hair and then mi decided to put arinse to hide the gray, but if i put it this week by next wek the gray dem pop up again and is mostly the front in the middle and around the sides.

My sister-in-law is fully gray, she went to have a relaxer put in and when she reach home her head was all grey (but she live in NC in white people area so mi noh know what went wrong)
