so mi start study likkle bout the reasons why we perm and ting. i got to a place where i felt i needed to go through some work on miself. mi needed fi love mi kinks, need fi stop torture miself, mi need fi do what was right for me.

mi go back a di likkle website (pm mi if u want it cause mi not here to convert nuhbaddy or preach) and mi find a group of men and women who teach mi how fi care fi mi hair. mi all learn recipe fi mek spritz, hair butters and ting. mi even learn fi braid mi hair.

mi was a wuss and still worried about what mi coworkers (mostly white) would say.

di first day mi wear mi likkle twa (teeny weeny afro) mi was so afraid. mi walk round wid a defensive posture all day caw mi just did a wait fi smaddy bright enuf fi se "eh" to me bout it.

mi live thru the day. but mi find dat all of a sudden mi a represent di whole race and haffi a explain tings. yes we wash our hair, yes my hair seems short because it curls up on itself. we perm to straighten, u perm to curl.

it grow in but it just is a spot pon mi head weh diffrant from di rest. mi haffi handle it with care. cause even tho mi natural fi years, it still gi mi a fight. it is finer hair that tends to be more brittle. but it definitely not a bald spot anymore. all dat chemicals and nuff manipulation was defeating all di deep conditioning and fretting i did over dat spot.

well all u haffi duh is do a search pon mi hair dramas dung yah mi a guh chroo dis rite yah now. Sick an tyad of being a slave tuh wah "dem" seh we should look like. Mi ready fi enjoy mi hair curls (naturally curly) and all but lawd eff mi nuh guh duh miself an injustice wid di perm. Can u if u don't mind share that site cuz rite now I'm ready to move to a different level

so i must say fi di past 5 years i have been happy wid mi hair. i own it - thinning spot and all. i love my kinks, i enjoy the waves, learning new styles, making butters from all natural products like shea butter and essential oils and as u can see mi love it so much mi tek nuff pickcha.

altho it was unbelievable seh we nuh pass dis kinda knowledge down di generation dem, mi was happy fi di likkle website. di people dem have dem soapbox bout diffrant diffrant tings but u always learn sinting new.

some obsess bout moisture, some bout di grade of dem curl, some bout length, some bout whether color is chemical, definitely don't mention heat or perm cause it get x out like how jamaican badwud get ex out ova yasso.

but mi learn tings. a tink di biggest ting was fi just lef di hair and it will grow and fi stop draw comb thru it from root to tip - work u way one step at a time from di root up. also, wrap u head a night time, protect it from di cowl and treat it to nuff water and moisture.

well mi go thru a few breakups, sew a few wild oats all ova canada and di usa and i just had to start all ova again. so mi chop it off. wah dis? tink is fourth time now.

i also decided to do di locks that i always wanted to do. u know when mi deh a yawd, mi was young and worried wah people wuda seh. even when mi buck di system and pierce mi ears a second time, people a church neva know fi just low mi mek mi live. dere was always smaddy fi ask u sinting or comment pon wah u a do. like di time mi lef school a uwi and rush go a bible study. one ooman ask mi ef mi cudn go home and put on a skirt. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad2.gif[/img] like wah dat haffi do wid me, god and apparently she. anyway, mi seh dat fi seh mi neva did too too feel like mi cuda live mi life.

so when mi did waan locks mi hair i never utter a word to a soul, mi just decide seh mi a go lef it alone.

but with this fourth chop i felt it was time to be mi owna ooman. mi grow up round rasta and mi understand the religion but no, mi neva was trying to make a religious statement. it is more social. especially in di climate weh mi live. not many black people to dat and most certainly nah try draw attention by being different. but i wanted to be miself.

mi nuh fraid a no man. mi no cater fi wah u may say or think. i am confident in my beauty and my heritage. i don't have to apologize or justify a ting anymore.

so mi start wear di twisty ting dem weh look like worm. mi nuh like dis hairstyle dat much so most times mi did wear a head wrap till it start grow out.

a long time mi did waan some color too so mi get it bleach out. dat wasn't such a good idea because it made it fragile and that is where i tend to get breakage.

dis is 2 months after the 4th big chop (dec 06)

i got a foster kid and started dating again and life just got busy so i put it under wraps and low it fi do it ting



mi wasn't too camera happy anymore but here are pics less that a year after the last chop.
