Well mi a guh through di fight yah now, but mi not locking mi hair but mi a try fi grow it out yet once again but I REFUSE to cut it, so mi read someweh where if you deep condition adn treat weekly it will prevent breakage suh mi a guh duh dat.

mariek, sometimes it not worth hanging on the "relax" part of the hair if you doing the transition of going natural. It can prevent the new grow from thriving properly. Eventually you have to cut it off anyway because it wouldn't look right have part natural part relax hair.

Furthermore the root will be thick and he ends will be whimpy. Once a month you can trim the ends. (if you grow an inch one month trim half an inch that month)

I grew out my relaxer too, Marie, and it's important to style your hair so that the two different textures blend as well as possible. There are two ways to achieve this:
- straighten the new growth, i.e. flat iron, press, or roller set
- twist or plait you hair after washing it and curl the ends on perm rods to get overall curl.

As MrsKurlie says, you have to trim regularly too.

True about the heat. I use a bonnet dryer when I roller set; it counts as indirect heat which is less damaging. Braids are good as long as they're not done too tightly or left in too long, c.f. Susan Taylor, former editor-in-chief at Essence magazine.
