mi glad seh dem man nuh get nuh overseas vote and i hope they never get it. why people who lef wi longtime live into a farin country mus able fi sey which government we get? if dem waan vote all dem haffi do a come down, set up residence, enumerate.

ahmm as quiet as it's kept, the remittances from jamaicans living abroad are one of the main sources of foreign exchange ja gets..many jamaicans really rely on these funds sent by relatives abroad..

"he who pays the piper, calls the tune" yes jamaicans living abroad should be able to vote..many countries such as the US, UK allow absentee balloting, it's not a far fetched concept

we must give *unnu* special privileges because *unnu* send money to *fi unnu* family? right.... this will only become practical when the ruling party sees where the diaspora will vote in its favour.

if unnu really want to vote come and live in jamaica. nobody has barred anybody from doing that. keep your businesses abroad but repatriate your earnings from them to local banks. come and set up businesses out here and demonstrate confidence in the jamaican economy.

nuff man cringe when dem read dat.... and i admit... money is not safe in a jamaican bank given certain economic indicators i have seen.

GOJ has a high public debt:GDP ratio, the fourth highest in the world. compute $12.1B (outstanding debt in USD) to jamaica's GDP (~$9B USD) gives you about 134%.

that doesn't paint the true picture. we'd have to look at how much external debt (which carries the true risk) we hold which is about $4.7 billion. this is not so worrying but the closer that figure comes to our annual GDP ($9 billion USD) is the deeper in filth we stand.

there are other indicators but the public debt:GDP and external public debt:GDP are pretty important.

the internal debt is what carries the tru risk in my opinion.

where do you get the 9B GDP figure? I hear 11.1B?

and are there any indications that the govt is anywhere close to a default position?

many jamaicans abroad retire to ja..
just because a jamaican is currently abroad doesn't mean that they amy not return, nor should they give up their entitlements, and one of the entitlements should be the right to vote as is done in other countries
