i think that poeple often confuse 'africa' with the concept of it being a nation. a comparison to mexico is slightly off if you think about it that way.
none of the people I know -and while that can hardly be construed as a representative sample for the sake of discussion maybe it fits- who are from the continent of Africa express a unified concept of Africa as a cultural or national deposit of something they all shared, which is probably why such conflagrations have such a fertile bed there.
