Around the house: Man's job vs Woman's job

While I was still at work earlier a man asked me what I was cooking for dinner. I told him and he asked me what he was going to have. I smiled (my way of saying if I answer you, you won't like it). Anyway we got into a discussion about what is a man's job around the house and what should be a woman's job.

I would like to hear from you folks what you think are gender specific jobs around the house keeping in mind that both people work outside of the house.

there are certain jobs which i do exclusively and others that he does exclusively.

- laundry (me) [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]
- lawn/car/ house maintenance- (him)
- clean bathrooms - me [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]
- grocery shopping - him (and him love bring home the whole store [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img])


then there are others that we share

- cooking ( however I do the bulk)
- cleaning kitchen- He does bulk
- mopping floors- he does bulk
- dusting - i do bulk
- organize bath/dressing of hard aize pickney


dunno if its gender specific, or just based on who hates doing what less....

Gender don't matter in this house.. If something need-s to be handled & you're available you get your butt up & do it.

<font color="blue">No such thing. I don't like doing any of the household chores, so I'll be damned if I'll claim any of them as my own.

If, and I mean IF, I must do some of the chores, we will share them equally. I will never always wash the dishes or always do the laundry. I have no problem with cutting the grass or changing my oil.

If it works out over time that there are chores that I hate to do (like all of them) that he has no problem doing, then those can become his. If there are chores that he hates to do that I have no problem doing (I don't know what those would be) then those can become my chores.

But I certainly will not make any chores mine simply by virtue of me being a woman and him being a man. </font>

ok...mi know mi ago get ratten breadfruit but mi clean/wash everything in this house if mister wash a plate mi think mi ago faint whey...he cooks on occasion but that is it I think he actually put some clothes in the machine once

Laundry he washes his clothes and I wash mine. I have to admit since he attended boarding school he folds clothes and sheets like he's in the army or something. Wayyyyy better than I do. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] Equal field here.

Cooking, I cook cause he only knows how to cook a little bit. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif[/img]

Anything having to do with surround sound, cable, dvd players etc techy stuff he deals with.

I usually wash the dishes and he puts them away most times. He will wash dishes too. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

We have two seperate bathrooms so he cleans his and I clean my own. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70409-waytogo.gif[/img]

Trash, he usually takes it out but sometimes he forgets. Grocery shopping is usually me, but Sunday he did go out and buy a whole fridge of drinks. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] Yesterday I turned around and went grocery shopping again cause he didn't get any meats and other things.

Well he used to wash the kitchen and bathroom floor on his hands and knees with a cloth. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70390-shhh.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif[/img] He now uses my wet swiffer to clean his bathroom.

He works all day on Saturdays and this is my cleaning day,I'm not even trying to do everything myself. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70400-talktohand.gif[/img]

It was funny the other evening my indicator light wasn't working. I stopped at one gas station and asked the guy could he sell me a bulb cause it had blown. He told me that the shop was closed but I could ask the manager who was waiting for his wife.

Well it was 2 guys from India, the minute I approached him to ask me if he could sell me a bulb he caught an attitude telling me he couldn't touch my car cause it was closing time. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img] I told him I didn't want him to touch my car I could put the bulb in myself. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img]

The guy saw me checking my oil level too and came out and asked if I needed any help. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/704555_dwl.gif[/img] No thanks I know how to do these things too. He cleans his own, I used to fuss about him messing it up after I clean it. Solution is you clean yours and I'll clean mine.
