I wear what pleases ME !!
I've learned not to care what other people think. I'm loving my locks (which are finally locking [img]/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img] ) It's so much easier to get ready to go out / or to work. I thrown them in a pony tail ! It doesn't get any easier [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

My gosh, you put us all like we're black or something! Just leave our things alone! I don't know one American married to a Jamaican that has embraced their partners culture. And it's also quite obvious that you married a black, and that he only hangs around with blacks. Don't group us into one, and don't wear our things.

OK, here's a different twist on the subject. What do you think about the native American Indian tribe that lives in the Grand Canyon who literally worship Bob Marley, play reggae day and night, smoke the ganja and wear dreads?

As for what I said about Jamaicans mimicking bad American habits, am I not right? Is all this hip-hop culture and ebonic talking improving our culture? I can see a direct correlation between the popularity of this BET and MTV culture and the deterioration in the quality of life in Jamaica. This materialistic culture is destroying Jamaica! I see the changes in Jamaica every time I visit there, and I can tell you that as far as I am concerned, it isn't changing for the better. As for Egyptians not being foreigners, all I can say is that as far as I understand, a foreigner is one who comes from a different country than you. I think that under this definition, an Egyptian would be considered a foreigner to a Jamaican.[/qb]

With thew hanging out with and dating of people of other races, i don't know what you are talking about, because Jamaica isn't strictly one thing, the people aren't solely of African origin, a lot of people out there have mixed origins, like my dad, so it's not like it's a recent thing! Also, if you leave an island to go live somewhere else, you will mix with other people! (Unless you're a hermit!)

First of all, I would like to say you don't own anything

(re:culture wise and your statement "leave our things alone"), you are a part of this culture...and I guess what you fail to understand that cultures mix and borrow from each other...

Cultures shouldn't always mix. If you want to have your old values, and mix them with new and American influence, then that isn't culture at all. We can't let this happen for my generation, they are already forgetting their roots.
