Compry do you believe that you will meet your husband in your current fellowhip? I tell you, I've heard it all in church, God really had to renew my mind because I took whatever came from the pulpit as gospel....man's opinion and all. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] I didn't think I had to search the scriptures for myself.

This is a question for anyone who wishes to answer, would you date someone solely on what you believe God has said?, or would you be willing to get to know that person and listen to what God says later? ( I guess this question borderlines on the permissive will vs. the perfect will of God) If you didn't hear from God, would you be willing to get to know someone and go out on an initial date? At what point do you think you need to hear God before proceeding further?

God revealed to me 3 years ago on May 24, 2000 who was to be my husband and I nearly fell off the toilet. literally

I only met him once and he was not even in this country. I had children, one who had been hurt by my former husband and there was no way I would subject them to that again. I must be goin mad. But I do not play with the voice of God. I had heard Hist thunderous voice twice before and I don't take his words lightly. I went into some serious prayer closets, talked to one of my pastors who directed me to the scripture ...lean not unto your own understanding (sorry I don't remember where to find it) and several others I clung to while I listened to directions from God. I was not obedient in many ways as I was scared to death of this revelation. In the meantime my fiance and I asked me to marry him and I revealed what God had spoken.....

Today the Spirit has not spoken this into my husband but even if the Lord sat him down and spoke it to him, he is not ready to recieve that just as I would not have been ready to recieve what God has given me several years ago.

In troubled times its so easy to say that God didn't say it but when man puts his hands in Gods work?!!! we mess it up. God could have a perfect will for us (marriage) but it take two people to UNDERSTAND his will, be obedient and LISTEN for his guidance and we don't do that too well.

Someone said to me "sistagirl what if your marriage doesn't work, people will be mad at God and they won't believe you" That was a burden on me for a long time but you know what? God is still workin it all out. His perfect will is still perfect.

This is very true Compry but can you expound on that alittle? God can reveal something to you that does not sit well with you. Everything God gives us to do isn't easy so when you say the word confusion are you alluding to the feeling of doubt? and when you mention broken hearts... do you believe that God can reveal His will and man/woman can screw it all up? therefore causing broken hearts because of ones disobedience to His will?

Ok guys I am back. I have read some of the comments here. Like Compry I donot and have never gone to church looking, partly because when I started I was married. Funny that you should mention this though because last Sunday, I attended the early service with my sister at Christian Cultural Center. So anyway, she dropped me at the gate and I went to find seats while she parked the vehicle. Well while waiting for her I turned around to look to make sure that I see her and that she finds me. Well let me tell you I have never seen so many good looking black men in my life, and many without a partner next to them. My first thought was (((Tropicana))). I couldn't help smiling, hope nobody thought I was smiling at them . But I could just imagine her like Alice in Wonderland eyes growing to the size of saucers. (((Tropicana))) if you are reading this don't take it as an insult but girl there were men everywhere, in all sizes, ages, shapes, complexions and heights and I don't recall an ugly one. Interesting thing is that I noticed that more women attend the 11 o'clock service. Oooooh lawdy I could have had a LOOKING PICNIC and they were looking back too kikiki Then my sister appeared and the show was over.

But as for me I attend for the message, for as some have already said, if it is God's will I will never have to go up to a man and "lay claim"
to him. I am rather victorian on that score, I get a kick out of being chased myself. But not even that means that this is the right one for me. Being married once I can say emphatically that it is not a picnic and it is not a fairytale story. Marriage is tough and it takes so much that I am not even sure that I want to go that way again. Not to discourage anyone but it is serious business, but I imangine till some folks get a husband and start living in a marriage it will always seem like the thing that you cannot do without. It is like having children too. Looking at nice family portraits of mom and dad and the three kids look so sweet ooh it is just to die for (snicker, snicker)

Sistagirl in the case of my friend she didn't go up to the man she was just speaking it because "there is power in the spoken word." Sometimes I laugh and say God you have some very interesting children! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

I don't know and I'm not looking for a husband.

I wouldn't restrict myself to my church however. What if Mr. Compry, who goes to another church at the other end of the city, heard from God that I'm supposed to be his wife and it just so happen that I heard the little voice as well?

Remember, many churches, one body. As long as we have the same belief and are heading in the same direction, I wouldn't have a problem if he belonged to another church.

Yes Sistagirl, I picture God sometimes looking at us and shaking His head, we are surely some interesting beings.

Well, I don't know if He would. If He did, I would ask that He (the HOly Spirit) reveal it to the man as well for confirmation and to avoid any confusion. Once people know that there was a divine "hook-up" then they'd be willing to work out any trials they could possible face in the marriage. Such persons could always run back to God and ask "didn't You say" and our Lord, being one of integrity (His word won't return to HIm void) would have to honor his word and help us through the trial(s)

This is such an interesting thread - I read the post in its entirity and got a good chuckle out of it. I am reminded of the scripture that tells us to, "seek ye first the kingdom of Heaven and all its righteousness, and all things will be added". I am convinced that if you seek God first in everything that you do, if you truly trust in Him and lean not unto your own understanding - then I know without a shadow of a doubt that He will lead you in that path of righteouness, because no good thing will He withold from you.

I am convinced that too many young ladies today think that without a man in their life that they are incomplete, not realizing that a man cannot complete you, but rather you must be complete in God and in yourself. If you are waiting for a man to make you whole, then your realationship is doomed before it begins. He must be able to compliment you but not complete you.

I do not need to go to church or anywhere else for that matter to lay claim on a man whether through the spoken words or otherwise because I know that my God says, "If my ways please Him, then He will grant me the desires of my heart". In the meantime, I make my request known to HIm, and when the time is right, I know God will reveal to me as well as my future husband that we are right for each other.

I never prayed for that, but prayed for discernment instead. I never had confusion though as the Holy Spirit directed my every step. BUT, satan was on the attack girl and it was during this intense period of spiritual dependency that satan showed himself closer than ever in my life..Its scary thinking of it.

This is so true, although God is so mysterious..we in our earthly minds think that the revelation was the lesson but it may not be...ones soul salvation may be His ultimate plan so maybe he doesn't reveal it as easy to one of them.. they must seek Him and see for themselves, as well as, the example of faith through the spiritually stronger spouse.

Most definitely! In these cases, we are going by our will and not His. I made a decision about 14 years ago to do something that was against the will of God. I jumped over every single road block that he put in my path because what He was saying to me didn't sit well with me. I had to do what "I" thought was the right thing to do. Nevermind that He is God. He needed my input. Well disaster struck and it took 13 years for me to get out of the mess that I got myself into.

No matter how uneasy the decision feels now, I will wait on Him and allow Him to direct my paths.

I'm saying God isn't going to put us in a situation which isn't right. If I have doubts about a relationship then it isn't right and I have no reason being involved.

A couple weeks ago, I shared something that was hurting me with my mom and she said to me...if God is in you won't hurt. Just this past Sunday night my daughter said, God knows best.

We need to stop listening to the flesh and stop confusing it for God's word. This is something that I am personally working on.

I'll tell you what the Holy Spirit revealed to me and this is not lie- I had a dream on Sunday night and I dreamed that I was sitting with my arms folded in the same church and the full congregation was all around me and it is a very large church. And the preacher was preaching about marriage, and I looked at him with a smirk on my face - somewhat of an I dare you to tell me something good look. And he said this and the congregation repeated it with him as if it was written in the bible and they had memorized it: "Think on these things no more rather put them far from you, come apart unto me, for my youth belongs to you." When I woke up I came downstairs and started searching for those words in the bible but I could not find it anywhere. But I took it to mean that God is my husband. If it is His will He will provide and when He does there will be no doubt in my mind. But as I said elsewhere before I am really not in the market at this moment, but I guess it would be nice to have some company 'fore I get ole and die....
