Among the Hebrew words that are translated "God" is 'El, probably meaning "Mighty One; Strong One" (Gen 14:18). It is used with reference to Jehovah, to other gods and to men. It is also used extensively in the makeup of proper names, such as Elisha. In some places 'El appears with the definite article (ha-'El', literally, "the God") with reference to Jehovah, therby distinguishing him form other gods.

The plural form 'e-lim', is used when referring to other gods, such as at Exodus 15:11 ("gods"). It is also used as the plural majesty and excellence as in Psalm 89:6. Sometimes this plural refers to a number of gods (Ge 31:30, 32; 35:2), but more often it is used as a plural of majesty, dignity or excellence. 'Elo-him is used in the Scriptures with reference to Jehovah himself, to angels, to idol gods (singular and plural) and to men.

i would never understand how people get so stuck in on names.
languages are for mankind and when mankind calls on his Lord he does it in his/her own language.
Allah hears the language of the heart and the sincerity of the heart is known to Him alone.
on judgment day all doubts will be cleared and the differences settled, in the meantime i don't see no reason not to love my righteous christian, jewish, rasta, buddhist or whatever, brother and sister.
but why some christian churches and organizations put out so much effort in missrepresenting and dissing islam?
are they scared by the hundreds of thousands who leave christianity to embrace islam?
can't stop the thruth from shine and he who wants to see will see.

What is Truth? Jesus says I am the way the truth and the life no one come to God except through me? If you don’t know Jesus as the Son of God – you don’t know truth. Jesus says in the world you will have tribulation but in me you have peace (peace that surpass all understanding). You can’t have peace if you don’t know him has the Son of God.

Just my 2 cents as I am a woman who is proud to be both Jamaican AND Muslim. And that would not have been the case if I was going to have to transform into some sort of submissive slave as so many people seem to believe to be the role of Muslim women. On the contrary the Quran tells us that "Paradise lies at the feet of the Mother". Muslim women had the right to vote, own/inherit property, choose her spouse, work if she wanted, stay home if she chose to, and countless other right over 1400 years ago...unlike most of her counterparts around the world who have only recently won these rights that should have been theirs long ago.
I am not here to argue with or convince anyone...but if anyone has questions specifically about the experience of women in Islam and/or female converts like myself I will try my best to answer.

Does the religion decrease the quality of a woman's bedlife? Not that a virgin would have experience, but the fact alone it is forbidden to touch the man's private kind a make it sounds as if the woman must take what she gets.

Well, first off there are so many more rights than you will read about in many of these books on Islam written by orientalist these days. I put in my marriage contract that my husband will not take another wife, as it is something that I personally cannot deal with at this point. But you know something my grandfather like many Jamaican men was married but had a few 'mistresses'...unfortunetly because none of them were married to them their rights were ignored! The children were raised without a father and the women had no support from him. But wouldn't you rather the women had support and rights and the children were raised with a father? Hmmm....you know I have no idea where you heard that fallacy, but to be blunt everything in the bedroom is permissible except anal intercourse. Including touching anywhere for men and women. Islam is in fact very specific in giving women rights in the bedroom...for example the right to foreplay, ect. So, no she does not just have to take what she gets...Islam enhances her 'bedlife' and everything else in her life.
