I was in the 4th wave (The Full Runners went first, then Halves...Elites going out first for each group, then the rest of us) [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/dance01.gif[/img]
The course was [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif[/img] not to many hills.
and according to the chip in my shoe...I came across the finish line in 2:09:17 [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bannana_purple.gif[/img] (which is under a 10 minute mile) [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bannana_purple.gif[/img] that has been my goal this season. di current mr ilp came in 1:58:48 [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70458-applaud.gif[/img]
Now what I find amazing is that the Kenyan female winner completed the Full Course in 2:37:19 [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/notworthy.gif[/img] Her Kenyan male counterpart finished in 2:08:08 [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img] Mi haffi try to figure out dem secret fi real man.

After the race was over di current mr ilp and I were invited to one of the corporate tents (the company he did work for for this event). Lots of food, musics and alcohol. Yes, mi seh alcohol and yes it did set up BEFORE noon. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img] Stayed for awhile, got some cute free workout gear.

Don't know what the final purse was for the winners. But I am sure it was in tens of thousands.

Just got back in from Pilates and gonna rest the legs for the rest of the day.

Race for the Cure was this morning. Di current mr ilp gone go do di fun run wid im company, so mi haffi enjoy di peace and quiet while di getting is still good. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70365-flirt.gif[/img]

No more races/rides on the calendar. I usually take off (a way backed off training schedule) all of November and December, then its back to the grind after the start of the new year.

I'm aiming to run in the Negril Marathon next December, but I might do an earlier one as a warm-up. Definitely not aiming to do the London though.

Everyone is doing good with their races. I've been gone for some weeks and itching to get back on course.

I have to scope out some runs in this area...and looking to do couple duathlons. Some tiefing smaddy tief wey mi bicycle. Long Run Sundays always get me down....

HI runner people (and biking, swimming people too)...good to see everyone still hittin the pavement (well except the swimmers...that could really hurt).

Mr Ochi and I did an nice easy 8 miler yesterday. Wasnt too bad! Knees started aching at about 7 1/2. So I was pleased. Still got 5 weeks to trains...shouldnt be any problem to get up to a 13 mile run before race time.

ILP....awesome time in your HALF! I would love to do something in that time range...but it wont happen with this one coming up. Its a hilly run...Maybe the one I do in the spring time I will shoot fo a 2:09 time.

Anyway...see you all in the street!

Saw the physio this evening for my hamstring problem. Boy did it hurt whilst he was prodding and poking but it did feel a little better afterwards [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/dizzy.gif[/img]

Hills training tomorrow evening AND I'm going to ride my bike to the venue [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek2.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70384-praying.gif[/img]. I've started going to the gym more regularly, doing upper body stuff on Wednesdays and lower body on Fridays.

My final long run this Sunday will be 8/9 miles then I'll take it easy for the rest of the week but eat loads of carbs [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70371-jump.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hungry.gif[/img]

Happy Sunday Mawnin (well afternoon...now)

This mawnin went out while it was kinda cool. Did 5.5 miles. My hip flexors were <u>very</u> tight [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif[/img] Mi nuh like daht atall [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif[/img] anyway, finished and then went to Pilates. Wasnt my regular instructor, this lady was more a fushion of Yoga and Pilates. Made sure that I did A LOT more hip flexor stretches.

Hey ILP...me dah ya...it was nice and cool here yesterday too. The hubby and I slept in...then went out to do our long run. Was supposed to do 10 miles...LAWD... it was a tough one for me. Me only mek it 8 miles and me haffi stop. De knees were screaming and trust me....the energy level was just never there from the start. Kept hoping to get into my "pace" and never happened. It was a struggle from the first step...to the last.

BUT...glad for the ability to do 8 miles still. Have to give thanks for legs that function and health that allows me the ability to run at all...Nuh True!

Friday was my first run after couple weeks. The plan was to do 3 miles since it was late in the evening...well, the moon was out and I did 3 more miles. I was feeling so invigorated I did another 3 miles! Total 9 miles on Friday and I wasn't even bursting a sweat as the evening was so cool and I was running on the soft dirt track around the farm.

Saturday I went out for a run...I thought I would've been sore from Friday but I wasn't, so I did a 6 mile run. Got out my spare bicycle with the tough seat...lawd that seat give my poor batty a warm time. Rode around for 6 miles...mi couldn't tek the tough seat nuh longer so I quit and went back to running. I did 2 miles of running in the end. Yesterday I only felt sore from the bicycle tough seat.

I managed to do 10 miles on Sunday and it was slower than the previous Sunday, but I just wanted to enjoy it more, which I did [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70458-applaud.gif[/img] I didn't have a protein drink afterwards because I forgot to buy any on the Saturday [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif[/img] but I did snack on a thick slice of hardough bread and ate a very late breakfast (lunch?) after my shower.

My 10 mile race is this weekend (Sunday) and I'm praying that it doesn't rain. I can handle the cold, but the cold and rain would finish me off.

I'm thinking of running with my Camelback filled with my usual running liquid, as I find water loses it's appeal over 6 miles and my legs need a little energy burst to keep moving [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70402-thinking.gif[/img] On the other hand I've never done that before in a race. Any comments?

Once I've recovered from the race, I'll stick with 10 mile Sunday runs. Just need to get decent headphones as my current ones tend to slip out of my ears just as I'm getting into a rhythm [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad2.gif[/img]
