Someday you will wake up to the reality that YOU are not the ambassador to the Roman Catholic Church (which should come as no surprise to anyone... God forbid ) and that when it is mentioned whether for good or for bad in any discussion, it is no reflection on YOU per se (obviously not ), nor is it an invitation for you to enter a thread to malign or redicule those with whom you are holding a grudge You would be surprised to know that no matter how bad you think I look when YOU come into a thread started by ME using your weak defense of Roman Catholicism as a spring board to hoist me with your petard, it only shows YOUR true character for what it is. well jedi,if I may be allowed to have a little stab at your question,from the evidence so far,it would appear that those that are predisposed to becoming "christians"are also very predisposed to be intolerant,petty,spiteful,and mean spirited.

those that are seemingly more predisposed to becoming "christians" are those that appear to carry more angst than others,some upbringing has a part to play in deciding who follows the "christian" trail,but it is certainly not environment,or genetics,..its fear .

whatever denomination these "christians" or religious believers follow,they all display one characterisic,they are all intolerant of others that are also predisposed to follow any denomination other than theirs.

there are some very good people out there who truly believe in the sanctity of their religious beliefs,and demonstrate this in the evidence of their actions,by doing good things,and helping charitable.
and there are those that do a lot of talking,but their hearts and minds are as souless and uncharitable as a cold piece of turkey.

the people that are more predisposed to becoming "christians",are those people that fear for their souls,and from what *I* have seen so far,some of them have good reason to.

If people have a fixed nature, then they can make only certain kinds of choices as all others would be alien to their nature. If people can make autonomous choices, then the range of choice can only be limited by outside circumstances (if I have only $10 in my pocket, I can't choose to have a five course meal, for example).

Children can be taught many things, be it noted. Mine have been taught to think for themselves and to behave rationally. To teach obedience, after all, is to train slaves.

So then by your logic mankind is not naturally autonomous, is that what you are implying here? Do people have to be taught to choose freely?

Mankind is not naturally autonomous. People have to be taught to choose freely. To behave rationally is not akin to having been taught obedience. Obedience is an oxymoron for accepting slavery of whatever kind. If obedience is required, where rationality doesn't justify it, it is a restriction of someones freedom to permit the enforcement of a particular point of view or action, otherwise you are a rebel.
