I am thrilled that you had sucha good experience meeting his family and experiencing some of the jamaicna chrismas experience...

I remember the christmas walk about - but in my parents house it was more of a drivearound... to see alltheir friends.. and we would have cake and sorrel at each house... by the the time we got home all us children were drunk off the rum in the cake and acting like fools [img]/forums/images/graemlins/704555_dwl.gif[/img]

Oh BB, I have been reading your story and enjoying every minute of it. At one point you made me cry so hard I had to turn off the computer. Your experience meeting Big Reds mother was sooo similar to my experience meeting my boyfriends (now husband) mother 5 years ago. My beloved mother in law called me into her room same way, and it just hit me really hard with the similarities (she passed away last Mothers day).

You look great sick too! I'm glad you had a wonderful trip.

Sunday Morning continued

After spending the morning in bed catching up on lost time [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70365-flirt.gif[/img] ... Big Red and I make our way to the beach. We spend all morning there catching some sun and I feel a million times better. I am still coughing and congested but I swear I am a new woman.

At quarter until noon we head back to the room and make a mad rush to shower and pack and check out by noon. Somehow, we managed to be checked out and in the car by 12:15... amazing, I know. We are in the car getting ready to make the 4 1/2 hour dive back to Kingston, back to Mrs. Red's home. We are going to spend one more night in Kingston, then head back to Mandeville on Monday. We were doing a lot of driving.

As I sat in the passenger seat of the car I contemplated asking Big Red not to tell his Mother, or anyone, about having to go see the doctor. I didn't want his mom to think I was some sickly girl that he carried home with him. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] I start to open my mouth to say it and Big Red cuts me off. "Isn't it amazing that we have spent so much time in the car together and we haven't even thought of putting the radio on?" "Huh?" [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img] I reply, realizing that he and I were lost in our own totally different thoughts. He says "Seriously Boundie, you notice that we are so comfortable with one another that the silence doesn't bother us at all, and we never really run out of things to talk about..." I see his point and tell him I love him, and I love that he notices things like that. I put my seat back and settle in for the long car ride.

In the car I am trying to tell if I feel nervous at all about going back to his Mother's house. I decide I am only slightly nervous but feel so much better b/c I knew what to expect. Plus I was feeling so much better, I didn't have to pretend to be well... I was on my way to being 100%

By 5 p.m. we are back at Mrs. Red's house and once again the table is set for dinner. We knock on the door and Mrs. Red lets us in. She hugs up her son and then reaches for me. She gives me a warm hug, tells me she has tea ready for me and ask how I am feeling. Before I could even answer her Big Red is telling her all about our trip to the doctor. Fortunate for me Big Red isn't the story teller in the relationship and he kept the drama to a minimum. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

His Mom handed me my cup of mint tea and told me to get comfortable. She warned that I was to take it easy and not over do it. She didn't want me relapsing. She asked if I had an appetite and I told her I felt a million times better and could eat the house. She smiled and fixed me a plate of food. Ham, chicken, salad... then she asks me "Boundie, How do you like your breadfruit?"

That is a question I have never been asked before.

I admit to her that in all my years of traveling to Jamaica, I have yet to have breadfruit. Even Big Red is shocked. Mrs. Red sits at the table and begins telling me all the different ways to prepare breadfruit. She explains that she has always had to make it two different ways. Big Red prefers it buttered from the frying pan, and Camille likes it plain and slightly warmed in the microwave. I tell her I will just pick from her kids plates to determine how I like it.

After tasting it the way Camille likes it, and the way Big Red likes it I announce to the room, who was hanging on for dear life waiting for me to make my choice, that I prefer it fried and buttered. I like that it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Camille tells me I am a traitor and pulls her plate of breadfruit away from me. I just laugh and she pretends to sulk before laughing right along with me.

We eat dinner and take our showers. I am in my pajamas by 8 p.m. and I decide it is safe for me to take the tylenol cold medicine again. I had given my body a break from it and knew I was going to need something to sleep through the night. I take the medicine and get comfy on the couch with Big Red and wait for the medicine head to set in. We are watching TV when Big Red sees his friend drag racing on TV and Big Red decides to give him a call. After a two minutes phone call Big Red's friend, Brad, decides to stop by.

I was sitting on the couch on another planet b/c of the cold medicine and I knew I looked sloppy and tired. I wanted desperatley to get up and clean myself up. I was meeting someone knew and wanted to make a good impression. I got up off the couch, made it to Camille's bedroom,and almost made it to the bathroom but something stopped me.

It was the bed.

I thought I will just lay here for a minute before I get cleaned up. That was it for me, I was out in 20 seconds flat and didn't wake up until Big Red joined me in the bed around 1 a.m.

I can't wait until you get your pictures back. They must have sent them off to be developed on Mars or something.

It sounds like you have a wonderful boyfriend and had a wonderful trip. I LOVE reading all about it!

Sounds like the 1am visit turned into a ritual [img]/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img] Are you sure Big Red is not a doctor? He really did take care of you when you were sick, and the breathing along w/ his chest movements was ingenious. Sounds like you have found a wonderful, kind hearted man, and I am glad that you are so happy together.

Sistagirl, when I read Boundie's story of meeting Mrs. Red, it made me think of you. I remember your story of meeting your mom-in-law, and it was so touching. You 2 truly had a special bond.

You remember that Dr bones? Even in our situation I didn't save the trip report [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] aaah if only we knew the events that were going to be monumental...the ones you can never get back and archive them all [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

Boundie save these stories so that you and Big Red can look back 10 years from now when you are married with children (lol) and read them over again!
