You speak as if with such authority about Jamaican culture to make a blanket statement that parents don't care. While you used the word think it comes across negatively. She was talking from a political perspective, Britisha.
Same like each innocent babe born at jubillee how so many become nusiances and violent adults.
Some filter outwards and away to a more civilized society as you may attest.
Jamaica was not the country it was when you left, it get worst.
More man have cyar and have nuff gyal is what our esteemed leader imparts to us in a public session.
He also said that the law is not a shackle.
He also said that politics is a fight by political tribes over scarce benefits and spoils.
His cohort said that he thinks his tribe is best to lead the country and that anything to remain in power is in the best interest of the country.
This is what out children are being raised in.
An enviroment that even a chamelon cannot change to keep down with.

i remain convinced that despite saying that they r here to learn people r not...wat is below the belt...i know u solely based on ur postings on this board....consequently ur posting was against the grain of ur previously stated view of things Jamaican....many think i am controversial based on MY postings here and i have no problem with that in that i am not afraid to confront issues based on the points raised...i stand on no one side juss for popularity sake in other words....

ur statements showed a stereotype if i may....poor people have limited options in a lot of ways....poor people also have the intent to do right by their kids for the most part...that circumstances prohibit this does not negate their intentions....the road to hell is indeed paved with good intentions, but with a history of our greatest coming out of abject poverty and this being the norm, not the exception, in a country like Jamaica with its history of hundreds of years of poverty in terms of dollars and cents ......we may have never had the cents but we have always had the sense...that is why the poorest still tries to believe in education being the way out for their children, even in a day when they come out of school with nothing to go on to...or even attend schools ill equipped to prepare them for the reality of the new world

my opinions follow the grain of what i read in what people say....if wat they think they r saying is not wat i read well i apologise for that.... i make no apologies for being a confirmed snob where a lot of behaviour is evidenced here on the board....people's colour , non black,is the least of their failings where i am concerned

is it the education system...or is it the individual school, teachers and students ?

my Aunt writes the GSAT books and I know that the children she teaches can read and write...and they are not wealthy children either...
