5. and finally, this is a discussion board. comments are made and are open to question and challenge. in the case of a comment that appears to be contentious, it sometimes aggravates matters when others rush to defend the person who is being questioned, and try to speak for them. understandable, for sure, especially when we know personally the person being challenged. but what more often than results is that trying to speak and explain for others brings in secondary issues, and tangents and red herrings and all kinds of things and we just end up with an escalated and counterproductive situation. it is often better to have the person dialogue with the questioner and have the opportunity to defend/explain/expand on their original comment for everyone's fuller understanding. I think parent the world over have a history of taking care of its children, I can't see anything specific about Africans as against others.
