My Florida Bashment Report
Sunset from the plane...I like it so I'm sharing it.

We arrived in Fort Lauderdale around 7:45 p.m. on Friday, February 4 and were met by a very thoughtful and good friend. After leaving the terminal, the first things I noticed were the lines of palm tree and I knew I was no longer in Canada. Even though the air was crisp and I was blamed for the crisp temperature, it felt different and welcoming feel to it.

We drove to North Lauderdale and went to the wrong street because Florida people don't know how to name their streets. Nevertheless, we finally got to the right house after calling Pepper because I could tell from the flags flying on the first house that we stopped at there was no way a Jamaican lived there. We arrived at Pepper's Place and were greeted by a beautiful set of white teeth, hibiscus plants and crotons at the front of the house. Yes this was Pepper. After hugging her about 27 times, we went inside the house and were greeted by the wonderful aroma of curried chicken and salt mackerel. I had requested that jokingly and she actually made it with the dumpling, yam and banana. Pepper you're the best.

After dinner, my friend took me to a *dead yawd* where I was met with more food but had to refuse because Pepper had fed me well. For the first time in 25 years, I played Ludo (sp) and I did not get the heavy something and dutty shirt. By 1:30 a.m. I was dying to sleep since I was up early and I'm not accustomed to staying up late.

The next morning I was awoken by the smell of curried goat. Bwoy, Pepper can cook. I walked around the house looking for her but she was nowhere in sight. She had almost finished all the cooking and went out shopping. Very efficient and organized woman.

The Final Preparation and Countdown to the Bashment

Curried goat, fried fish, rice dishes, salads, etc. were all ready; drinks on ice, the bar was packed so it was time to put the chicken on the grill. I tried so hard to be useful but Pepper had everything under control. I managed to sweep a 4 inch squared section of the patio before she took the broom away.

Shortly after the patio was washed and chicken was on the grill, JesusDread showed up. I swear he must have smelled the jerk seasoning all the way up Highway 95. I immediately knew who he was but the blind Dread asked me if I was Pepper...as if Pepper is as tall as me. He came very early but we didn't mind because Pepper immediately put him to work. He had to mow the lawn, cut down the trees...wait, maybe that was a dream.

Thanks to Pepper and all the folks that contributed to make this get together a success. Normally I do not dance I just sit and watch, but seeing such nice women I had no choise I had to jump in. Thanks again folks.

Continuing

Pepper was simply wonderful at getting everything set up, ready and perfect. I tried to help but she kept insisting that I was a guest. The guests started to arrive one by one. Some I recognized right away from MyFamily, others I had to get a formal introduction.

Jamaica Dreaming was one of the first people to arrive and her personality matched her red hair. Wow...fiery lady.

I couldn't miss Jazz even though she's more beautiful in person than her pictures. Very nice lady with a winning personality and she does have a butt. I could sit and chat with her for long hours.

Right away I knew Ensome from her facial features. Very funny lady and she made me cracked up laughing speaking about the "girls" and stories about her students and her methods to make them succeed. "yuh nahhhh fail mi class" [img]/forums/images/graemlins/704555_dwl.gif[/img]

I recognized Tuff Stuff based on her arrival in the room. It was a "look out world, here I come" but in a most positive manner. The lady was dressed to the nines. The sash around her hips matched her cute little jacket and those boots were perfect for the outfit. Her smile is one of the prettiest I've seen in a long time. My first impression was that she is as funny in person as on the board if not more.

Now, I had heard stories about LadyZ being quiet at functions but I thought they were joking. Jeezampeace, you couldn't hear a peep outta har mouth. I could not believe it was the same person. She can dance though and her almost top was well-fitted. I saw her bumping butts with Mankind in some serious fashion.

Speaking of Mankind, I was totally shocked at the way this man was cutting rug. All that was missing was the disco ball and the cream suit. The man can dance.

Another big time dancer was Mr. Xavier himself. I tried to take him on but I couldn't go as low as he could, I had to give up half way down. Later on in the night I saw where he got his dancing style when Mrs. Xavier came on the dance floor. What a beautiful couple they are. Great family.

Then there was Magic. Apart from J Kid, Magic is one mellow dude. I still can't believe that he's allowed to fly planes for a living...he can't be more than 16 years old.

Even though we've been meaning to get together, Green_Biscuit and I finally met at the Bashment. It was like meeting at old friend. Her children as soon adorable and it was truly a pleasure meeting them.

Bim! Bim! Bim! What can I say about Bim? The guy knows how to play his music and keep you on the dance floor. A few seconds after his uncle arrived, he was on the dance floor as well and brought me along with him.

Even though Mutty showed up late, I was very glad that he did as I really wanted to meet him. What a man handsome? Mrs. Mutty must keep three sets of eyes on him.

I'm glad my trip to Florida was this past weekend because I had the opportunity to meet some great folks who know how to enjoy themselves to the max. These folks just blew my mind when they sang three different versions of Happy Birthday to ((Kia)) over the phone because she was not able to make the bashment. What a set of thoughtful people...weepy eyes. They then proceeded in cutting the cake for her and H.O. who showed up the next afternoon. Big up, Florida crew.

Special thank you to (((Pepper))) for having my children and me in your home and for being a wonderful hostess. Your kindness to us this past weekend has not gone un-noticed. You are wonderful. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

sorry Elijah and I were a day late [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] unfortunately i spent 7 hrs underneath a 500 horsepower caterpillaer engine that didnt get me where i was suppose to be) [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] in south carolina getting covered in grease trying to repair a faulty wiring harness in a truckstop fuel island [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img]

believe u an mi, i had come in from laredo texas and turned right back out leaving for floridah (i ran by the house to pick up Elijah) to make it-i rounded 7000 miles in 6 days so i could make it- i got the problem fixed- but by the time i got to Jacksonville i was exhausted.sorry we missed everyone
