As fi the original issue of the post whe the working spouse tek it trace dem- the issue is dem a trace wid it cause it is a sympton of a bigger problem in the marriage. If de bills dem getting paid and there is cash flow and de stay at home naw spend $$ like it going out of style, den is a control issue.. but if there are money problems, the issue is that the working spouse needs additional income into the family unit and the other spouse nah pull dem share

but the issue is, what if there are no money problems, that the SO can affford to pay the others business rent..(the fuel for this post) He obviously can afford to do this on his salary, and the SO cant..
so why tek it trace dem when u mad?

if u are using the fuel for this post which was based on the others posters post.. as the thread continued, it was revealed to us there were other issues going, related to non reciprocation, sharing of responsibilities and a small request that led to the outburst.. in that case it was a sign of a one sided relationship (one giving much more than receiving)

how it feel (now) to be truly empowered, and not have to wait on a man, fe give u everything..

MG2S: Awful!! The main thing I loved when I was married, was being a housewife. I like to be free to do what I want with my time. I can keep my house, shop, visit the sick, work on my crafts, work my PPL business, volunteer, etc. I hate being tied down to an 8-5 with someone telling me when and how often I can go make water.

Sooooooooo.......I guess you would *need* a man with significant/adequate income to support these efforts den....
Correct me if I am wrong..

What mi observe wid the 2 f/t working parents household in my area is there are a lot of material things within the home and dem complain how dem cant meet dem bills.

Living up to the Joneses mentality..

they live in an area that is supposed to *have*..and they want to appear to have..
but the bills too much, and hence the complaint..
Sounds like dem need fe downsize and stop trying to live up to the joneses..

I fully understand women/men who decide to stay home once the children come along. I'd do the same and I plan to (depending on who makes more money) however, in this day and age, I do beleive that women should be educated.

In Denene Millner's Book - the Rules, she stated that her perception of the stay-at-home baseball wives were that they were airheads, however after her interview she found that like her, most have advanced degrees and are very very skilled.

Point is: nothing is wrong with staying home but I beleive that should you choose to do so, you are taking on a role of supporting your family and working side by side with your man and if you were to effectively do that you need to be skilled in other areas outside the kitchen and the bedroom.

For instance: He makes the money - isn't it nice to be able to balance the checkbook, go online and research and make investments into your future.

He has every single right to complain because if he's going to work and paying bills she should turn on a hose and water the bushes.

It;s a give and take situation on both ends not one giving adn the other constantly taking. Keep in mind he is marrying this chick (I didn't read the other post I'm drawing conclusions from this thread) however, if he starts out the relationship with her as a housewife after the divorce, he is still entitled to treat her as such - why? Because she has no skills on which to survive on her own - therefore when he takes on the responsibility after marriage, he is taking it on for life.

In my opinion: If my son came home with a woman who doesn't work and they had no kids between them I would not be happy about that. If she had kids before she should be working.

a juss suh me see it.

STaying home because of a child in RL's case is XTREMELY understandable because I'd do the same but before the kids and you have no disability

come on!!!!!!!!!

What if the couple has no kids or if the woman is infertile and still want to stay at home just because she is married? Is that not primitive or unevolved?

To be perfectly honest, I don't know anyone in that position, so it's not something I thought about when reading this thread.

but if the mom works and the dad works, then its only fair that their be an equal distribution of labor as not to overwhelm each partner..

It might seem "only fair", but I don't know one married women who would say that there is truly an equal distribution of labor in their home. Not one. In fact, most say that, if the husband does 20% of the work he feels that he's done a whole heap!

its just that some moms know that in order for them to have a roof over their heads and to continue their lifestyles, no matter how modest, they may haffe work..

Here's a thought - if you know you want to maintain a Mercedes lifestyle on a single paycheck, marry someone who has that earning potential. I know a few women who have done that - they chose to marry someone who valued the importance of having a wife at home and felt that their role as the husband meant they were to provide a "suitable" income for their family.
