U know seh me see soh much when me goh a Bridgetown..
Me see tambrine balls, coco, sweet potato, white yam (dem noh have yellow yam a dem country - can u beleive it..? )De lady a de market seh dat yam scare, and dat dem have to import yam from St Vincent!

Anyhoo..

Bajans, I found, are not a particularily *friendly* people..
You kinda have to talk to them to warm them up..
They tend to be very mannerable doe (have manners)..
but have to talk to them to get most of them talking to you.
I think that their way of being is mostly from the English way, of being respectful and mannerable..
They also request you not to wear u bathing suits in places that are *inappropriate* aka..
the road, the street corner, the market, the supermarket, the hairdresser, fe breakfast or to dinner and anywhere else *other dan the beach!*

(saw this request in many booklets)
So all those of unno who love fe wear unno bi-kin-ninni..

anywhere, and everywhere...

Bajans..... tend to "frown" upon such behavior......

Sooooo...be aware..

O.k. - I'm all caught up now.

Yup, people sure don't walk around in their swimsuits in Barbados unless they are at the beach. I mean, they do in some of the smaller little towns, but in the tourist areas definitely not. Overall I'd agree that they are more reserved, on the surface anyway.

And Barbados can be very expensive. Although there are places you can go where you don't spend a fortune, they are hard to find and not always open to tourists. Lots of little guest houses and family-type restaurants that are not on the beaten path. And that tourists don't just happen upon. Having friends there helps a lot in finding ways to save money.

as I said, I didnt know that Barbados was so expensive. I just kinda *assumed* that the price there would be comparable to the prices everywhere in the caribbean....
Wrong!!
When you are there, if you dont mind eating everyday from the local vendors selling food (there are many in Barbados, who set up shop on the street and will gladly oblige your request)then, thats the way to go.
Otherwise, note that the cost of a meal in Barbados (at least in ST lawrence Gap, an area in which we drove to, can be pretty pricey) On the West End too, I was told by fellow travellors (the Brits) that the prices over there, where they had ventured was the same also and no better bargain.
So if you go, bring tons of cash, travellors checks..
And, a major credit card, just in case . Eating out there can be a mind blowing experience, when the bill comes.

Now this is the stop for the local craft market. This is also the bus for the local government that they use. This bus is only $1.50 bajan (.75cents for americans) to go anywhere, I was told in Barbados. Good deal..
I was able to find the ma-rack-cas there at the craft market that I sought. See it in the picture with the word *Barbados* pon it up above.....
