really enjoying your report [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] Maybe because I know firefly and everywhere you went so well but reading it is like being there all over again.

My second trip i witnessed an accident scene like the one you did (a mother and child). I don't have pictures but it's fresh like the day it happened in my mind. You never forget seeing death like that [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] There are no more awful tragedies than a young life cut short in such a horrible way [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

One of the reasons I chose Secrets/Firefly was from reading your report a few months back. I was thinking of staying in the cabins at that time and I asked you what you thought of them. You replied that you thought they were OK. That confirmed it for me.

I must say 'Tree'...you're [seemingly] a much better behaved individual than I ever was on any of my 'solo' flights to JA. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Very sad story about the little fellow who was killed in the car accident. Although I once saw a tough-headed 'biker' bounce his 'noggin' off the road one night...but he got up, swore up a blue streak, dusted himself off and rode away into the future.

Gladly...I've never witnessed a death...or even, as is the case with you, the immediate results of such a tragedy.

Hey geocox interesting that you will be at the airport at 2pm on the 6th my flight arrives from toronto at montegobay at 220pm might bump into in the airport!!!Oh well funny thing all this talk about neil young it was his 58 birthday yesterday,,had a special radio broadcast here in toronto on q107 fm in celebration of his birthday or like that radio station said another defining moment in classic rock!! by the way i will be bring down the dejavue album too!!

I'm really enjoying your report. It's great to hear about all the little bars & restaurants - more things to file away for my first trip upcoming in just over 2 months.

Love the pictures, I'm not usually a morning person

but I will have to make myself get up early one morning just to see one of those awesome sunrises.

Milo, I'm really enjoying your report. I love reading reports of lone travellers and their adventures. There is something aluring about one that chooses to travel alone. It's seductive to me. I think the reason is because it takes strength and single mindness to do so. Please donn't take too long to continue your post. I needed a report just like this prior to my leaving for the island in two weeks. Now hurry!

I must say I cannot believe that the cabin is that small either. Looks like guard shelter!

Sorry about the accident it was a very good report. I don't want to say it, but that picture your capture of the grief scene is a very good composition.

This particular morning I wake up and my body is feeling a little out of sorts. I put it to drinking to much over the last few days. I mostly drink on the high side of moderation and it’s a little hard to do that while on holidays. So I decide to just lay off the booze for a bit and let myself dry out. I head down to the beach. The sun is high in the sky and I have missed my beloved sunrise. I order breakfast at the Firefly beach bar and decide to go for a walk down the beach while it is being prepared. As I reach the point where I decide to turn back I spot a man and a woman who look a lot like the pictures I have seen of jtgogo1 and his better half.

At first I am hesitant to introduce myself because I don’t want to look like a fool if it isn’t them. After a little while I start to realize that if it isn’t them who cares! I’m in Negril and things like that should not worry me down here. So I approach the guy and ask him if he is in fact jtgogog1 and he nods yes. We shake hands and we chat for a minute or so. They are heading down the beach and he asks if I would like to join them. Unfortunately I have breakfast waiting for me back up at Firefly so I have to decline. While I only met him for a brief moment jtgogo1 struck me as a very soft spoken individual who was in tune with the Negril scene. He seemed right at home on the beach and I could sense why he loved to visit there so much. We part ways and I head back to Firefly just in time to sit down and enjoy my breakfast.

Like I said I was feeling a little strange today so I spend the entire day at the beach just being a vegetable really. I am just enjoying every moment I spend soaking up the sun, sights and sounds.

Like Minded Individuals

I end up having diner with Tom, the doctor from Tulsa Oklahoma, who is also a guest at Firefly. We head down the beach to Mariposa Hideaway for some Italian food. Tom is a very gentle soul, just he sort that everyone would like to have as their doctor. We exchange stories and we talk about world politics, sports and each others home towns. Tom is leaving for home early in the morning so he heads off to bed and I finally decide it’s time for a drink so I head down to Risky Business for the evening.

When I return to Firefly I notice that the hot tub is going but empty of bodies so I walk a couple doors up the beach to Chances and grab a Red Stripe and head back to the hot tub. The water is way too hot at first but after a while it’s wonderful. I sit and sip my beer and stare up at the stars. For the first time on my vacation I think to myself “darn it would be nice to have a special someone with me to share in the moment”, if you know what I mean! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] I turn off the hot tub and sit in the garden outside my cabin and am just amazed at all the stars I can see. Nothing like that at home that’s for sure!
