Milo Man.. Just wanted to say your report is one of the best I have read in a long time. For Sure.
So you go to Ms.Brown's on da beach rd.?? I agree with you.. I have a cup there once and it wasn't so good but since I have became close to the family I tell them that and will tell them again tomorrow. I have a cup at Ted's back in April and it was da bomb. Laughed all night. Didn't see things and didn't want to. I got the mild. I have eaten the shrooms before and I love their taste but the last time I eat too many and prayed to come down. Never eat them again... Lol
Too old for that stuff now but I still indulge in the tea every now and again. Same price at Ted's. He give me a little taste of the ganga brownie and after a bite I tell him no way, I know better than that. Lol Very strong.

All these posts with knowledge about Miss Brown's and Ted's, but no mention of Miss Jenny's? We have stopped there on our trips.

Bought some tea to take back and never drank it...got sorta skeered! Never could set aside 6 hours or so of vacation to try it. Figured it smart to only do it with that much time to idol....not knowing what to expect. Now I read MM's experience with Miss Brown's tea and dang....coulda tried it anyway. :verymad:

Love the report MM.

Am encouraging my wife to read it & reminisce...maybe we get back sooner!

Well I’ll see if I can wrap up this trip report with this installment. So here goes.

I head off to Arnella’s Bistro for breakfast. Returned back to Firefly and struck up a conversation with Mr. Grant. He is a frequent guest at Firefly and he is from Minnesota. Mr Grant is a twenty five year old living in a seventy five year old body. He has more energy and drive than I could ever hope for. He is retired and he must have done well for himself because he has traveled all over the world.

I am on the last full day of my holiday and it occurs to me that I have not captured much video of life on the beach in Negril. So I grab my camera and I wonder down towards town.

I have a pretty high end video camera. It is on the border between pro and consumer in quality, features and price. I operate my own wedding videography business and the camera is one of the tools of the trade. The reason I mention this is I got a lot of people approaching me wondering if I’m making a film about Negril or Jamaica. I explain that I’m just on holidays. One guy named Leon says he’s a singer/songwriter and wondered if I would shoot him singing one of his songs. I agree and we head up the beach a bit where we shoot Leon’s video. Hey you know what? Leon was pretty darn good. I played the footage back for him to see and boy it really sweet him.

I am talking to Leon after the shoot and all of a sudden guys are poping out from the woodwork in all directions. All are insisting I do a video for them too. Leon is upset by this and a big argument breaks out between Leon and the others. While this is going on I’m feeling a little overwhelmed so I slip away almost unnoticed and before you know it I’m outta there. I do manage to get some great footage of the beach. Much of it is still siting in my camera waiting to be edited.

I head back to Firefly and spend my last afternoon on my air mattress.

It’s Halloween and while I know Jamaicans on the whole don’t observe this ritual I figured some of the tourist spots might. My costume is really a meager attempt to “dress up”. Before I left for Jamaica I visited my local discount store and bought a Santa Claus hat. Hey it cost me a buck and it took up very little space in my suitcase. So I put on my Santa hat and head to the beach bar at For Real. I meet Nick upon arrival. Nick is a thirtysomething year old Brit who works as a corporate head hunter in London. He has just arrived and his wife is beat from the flight so she is passed out down at the Charlea Inn. Nick is in the mood to drink Red Stripe and so am I. Soon the dudes from California stop into the bar. The “Major” and “26" are buying everyone beers and they are also in the mood to drink lots off the suds. Nick’s wife finally wakes up and heads over to join us and we talk and drink some more.

Finally I say my goodbyes and leave the beach bar. I cross the road and head down toward the Jungle. Now the deal at the Jungle was that if you wore a costume you paid $800 J and you can drink all night and not pay another cent. That’s right, not another cent. The only problem is you had to order a Smirnoff vodka cooler to take advantage of this deal. I tried one and it was OK but I knew I could not drink this stuff all night. WRONG! After about two or three they started to go down like pop. I was wondering around inside the Jungle for a long time before I discovered they had another club area up on the roof. It was great up there. They had a bit of a stage show going on and a little fast food place to satisfy those late night munchies. I saw a guy filming the stage show with the same camera I own. I approached him after the show and he said the guy who runs the Jungle wanted someone to shoot some promotional footage for the club. We talked shop for a few minutes and then it was back down stairs to see what was what.

Who should I bump into but Mr. Grant from Firefly. He was dressed up in a leather outfit that would be right at home up at Hedo II. He had a contraption that looked like the head of a monkey (made out of plastic I guess) where his crotch was and when he pressed a button it would light up. I laughed so hard I thought I was going to drop dead right there. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/704555_dwl.gif[/img] As the night went on I found myself up on the dance floor, mainly with a group of women who were from Germany. They were in Jamaica for some function or the other (I think they were athletes because they all looked as though they could snap me in two if they wanted.)

The loud music, the language barrier and the alcohol all made it impossible to fully communicate with these ladies. All I know was that I was their token male dance partner and they all wanted to dance.

Now something happened to me that night that has not happened for a long time. NO! NOT THAT!! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]
I suffered memory loss, I can’t seem to remember when or how I got back to my cabin. But I got back there safe and sound.

The next morning was hell.

My body reminded me why it is I don’t drink too much any more!

Its time to throw everything in my suitcase and get going. I take one more walk up the beach and try to permanently etch in my mind all the sights, scents and sounds so they can be replayed come January. Jerome, another night watchman at Firefly is just about to finish his shift when he calls out to me that the guy from JUTA is here to take me to the airport. I turn back and take one last look at the beach. I grab my bags and go!
