Guess things must be going well w/ Paul and Dolly. I "missed" my plane a couple of times too. Always on the return flight, never on the flight to Ja. I will keep checking to see how your story ends. I know that you have to see Pete at least 1 mor time before you leave Ja.

You are entering the phase of your story that I hate the most "leaving time." I feel everyone's depression when they get to this part of the story. I am just a few days away from a nice long trip and I am already dreading August 1 when I have to leave paradise and return to MEMPHIS.
Wow, that song really fits huh????
Girl as for our Dolly "missing her plane", my favorite is when Angie called her BRAND NEW JOB and told them she would be late because there had been a riot in Jamaica and all of the roads leading to the airport were closed. They hired her anyway when she returned....bless them.

I hate this part of the trip also!It"s so sad,but at least we are fortunate to have been able to have gone to Jamaica! I'm back. ****Big HUGE sigh**** How convenient I get back just in time to read about our good-bye. Doing a good job!!! Hey There everybody,
here goes the last stretch of my trip report....

Dolly jumps up when she hears the phone. I guess she was expecting a call from Paul. He seems to call a lot, so Olivia and I don't really mind her answering. It's probably for her anyway!!
She looks a little puzzled as she speaks to the caller.
I overhear her asking whoever is on the phone some questions. She says "You say you were dancing with the cute blonde?"
That would probably be me since I am the only blonde in this room...
I look over to her. She gives me a strange look.
I wonder how these people seem to find us and get our room number. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]
She passes me the phone whispering that there is a guy on it named Larry and he says he danced with me on Wednesday night at Margaritaville. I begin to reflect back in my mind through the endless inventory of men we danced with or even talked to, and I really could not recall this guy.
I took the phone and said "Hello"
The voice on the other end said "Hello there, don't you remember me?"
I said "I wasn't sure"
He began telling me about the night's events at Margaritaville a few days agao.
Honestly, I can barely remember the guys that talked to me yesterday, and I was really trying to remember this guy.
He told me what he was wearing, and that he was a great dancer, etc.
I guess he was a little dissappointed I wasn't remembering him.
I really racked my brain, and then it clicked. He was the sweaty guy wearing a jersey that was dancing way too close to me at Margaritaville. The night when Dolly met Paul. I couldn't remember too much about him though, and I wasn't sure why he was calling here now. How did he find us?? What did he want?
He went on to tell me he really enjoyed meeting us all and having the opportunity to dance with us. He said he was "friends" with Paul and Pete and knew we were hooking up with him, and he wanted to talk to the "big" girl who knew how to rip up the dance floor.
I looked at Olivia with a grin. So that's what this was about....
I told him to hold on and I would get Olivia.
Olivia looked puzzled as she reached for the phhone. I whispered to her that it was "Larry" the guy at the club the other night, and he was looking for her.
She looked a little surprised and started talking to him on the phone.
Dolly and I tried listening for a bit, then decided to give her some "privacy" and went out on the balcony.
The sky was clearing up and the sun was trying to peek out. The day was looking up. It was going to be a nice evening.
I was glad. It was our last day and I wanted to enjoy it.
Dolly pointed down to the boat area where she saw Anthony waving to us. It figures that guy seems to know our every move!! She tells me to wave back to him and I do. What other choice did I have?? He is motioning for me to come down to him and I say I will "soon come" I feel bad because I really have no intentions of doing so. I walk off the balcony and back into the room, so I don't have to talk to him anymore.
Dolly follows and laughs. The whole Anthony thing seems to really amuse her!!
Dolly and I look over to Olivia, who is still on the phone. We wondered what this guy wanted with her. A few minutes later she hangs up and tells us that Larry wants to get together with her tonight. She looked a little confused. She began telling us he was originally dancing with me, then he noticed her and liked her "moves", but he didn't get the opportunity to dance with her on that night.
Apparantly he was telling her that she had been on his mind for the last few days and that he wanted to see her before she left.
I immediately thought this guy was just taking advantage of the fact that we were there only one more day and he was wanting to just work his thing with Olivia before she was gone forever. It also amazed me how "conviniently" he just happened to call to talk to Olivia.
It was almost too coincidental that she would now have a "date" tonight.
I began to wonder if Pete and Paul had anything to do with "hooking" Larry up with Olivia. It seemed like a logical plan to keep Olivia from getting into trouble with Alcohol and us babysitting her again. Paul and Pete were upset last night about that, and it was almost like they were making sure Olivia would be occupied.
At least that's what i was thinking. Then again, I don't really trust anybody!!
Olivia wasn't sure wheteher or not it was a good idea to go anywhere with Larry. She was mad he talked to me first and then opted to talk to her after me. She said she wasn't into taking anyones "dirty seconds"
I just laughed at her and said "he wasn't with me, and that he wasn't my dirty seconds"
I told her I may have just danced with him, big deal!!
She was still a little undecided about the whole thing.
Dolly had plans to spend the evening with Paul, and apparantly Larry was going to pick up Olivia around the same time Paul was meeting up with Dolly in the lobby.
I lay on the bed wondering if Pete was going to call me, or if I was ever going to see him again. The other girls had their evening all planned out, and I was still not sure what was going on. I thought maybe that was for the best, I didn't need to get into anymore trouble!!
Dolly was getting herself all ready for Paul, and now Olivia was going through all her outits to get ready and look good for her "Date"
I just sat on the bed watching them.
I lay there for a while while they got themselves all ready and beautiful. I was just thinking about everything that happened over the last few days. "I really have completely lost my mind here" I thought to myself, "and now I will be going home tomorrow, how will I be able to get back into my normal everyday routine and life after this week I spent here???!!!"
As I was reminiscing about the weeks events, the phone rang. I nearly jumped. Should I answer it? Could it be Pete?
I decided to answer it on the second ring.
"Hello"
"Hello is this Danielle?"
"Yes"
It was him.
He started singing to me. ( How sweet)
He asked me if I knew who it was.
I said "Of course" with a big grin
He said "Are you sure?" with that smooth sexy voice.
I really liked the way he teased me like that!
He asked me how my day was ( I really wasn't going to share those details..) and told me how he was thinking about me all day at work and couldn't wait to get off and call me.
He asked if I would still like to spend some time with him.
I said I would.
He said he was so happy and told me he would come and get me later on.
I said that was fine.
We talked a bit more, then I hung up.
Dolly and Olivia were looking at me intently with the faces of "So what was that about, what's going on?"
I looked back at them and said "Well, we're getting together tonight, so I guess we all have dates!"
We all laughed.
Olivia said "Man, that guy has it for you bad Danielle, you are in trouble!!!"
I smiled.
Our last night in paradise, and we were all going our separate ways...we all knew tonight was going to be crazy!!!

OK, I have to admit I've been lurking around the board a bit for the past few days and I have been debating whether or not to continue with my trip report.
After reading all the responses on the rent-a rasta/gigalo thread, I think a lot of people may be judgemental of me and my experiences.
However since I started this report, I feel I should at least finish it for those readers who have enjoyed it so far.
If anyone wants to judge me, so be it. I am a grown woman who made my own choices on this trip and if anyone does not agree with what I have done, then that is their right.
I feel I had a great experience with Jamaican men. I am fully aware of men who use women, etc. I in no way went to jamaica with any intention on "hooking up" with anyone. What happened to me and Dolly was not planned...who can plan emotions?? Maybe we acted on pure attraction, lust and were spontanuos and crazy, but we were still careful and not stupid and naive enough to believe everything we were told.
We were and still are very aware that we could have and can still be taken advantage of, and keep our eyes, and our hearts open.
I will continue with my report, as there is only the one day left and the aftermath, so I welcome any opinions, good, or negative, and feel I am "mature" enough to handle any feedback.

In Dolly's defense, I will have to say since I know her personally, I will let everone know she has a good head on her shoulders.
I have talked to her many times about what is happening with her and Paul and she finds it hard keeping a long distnace relationship. She has feelings for him, and like anyone else who has ever fallen for anyone whether it be someone who is your close friend and neighbour or someone abroad, it is hard enough to keep a realtionship going even when you see that person daily.
As for her and Paul, I have talked to her about spending money going to see him, etc. and so far, when they are there together have split any expenses for food, hotel, etc. The only expense she has footed herself is the airfare, and of course as a friend I continue to tell her to be careful with her money and her getting "too" attached to him.
Who knows what will happen with them? If nothing, then she has the experiences and the memories, something she can smile about for a long time in the future.
I don't think she has or will have any regrets, she just has to be open-minded and open-eyed about what she has gotten herself into, and I think she can handle whatever the future may hold with or without Paul.

Sunday evening after the phone call from Pete, I remember digging through my suitcase to get an outfit for my "last" night in paradise. It finally stopped raining, but it was a bit cool and it was wet everywhere.
Dolly and Olivia were doing the same thing, looking for the "perfect" thing to wear for their "dates" as well.
When we finally got ourselves ready, we went down for our last dinner together, we talked about all the fun we had here and whatever happened, we've had no real regrets, it was all fun. we had learned a few things down here, and we definitely were not as naive as when we arrived, due to all the situations we found ourselves in. We laughed at how much we had "accomplished" over the last week.
We joked about how Dolly was practically "married" to Paul, they had been seeing eachother for days now, that they were practically "going steady."
When we finished our dinner, we went down to the lobby, since that is where Larry was going to meet up with Olivia, and Dolly was going talking about how she planned to meet up with Paul. I wasn't sure what I was doing, but I do remember Pete saying he would meet me in the lobby around the same time as Larry was picking up Olivia.
We sat down on the comfy couches and got a drink.
I was facing the entrance of the resort, glancing every so often for Pete.
I didn't see him, and was getting a little down. Why do I feel like this? I keep thinking he will not show up, but he always does, so i just relax.
Dolly looks at the entrance way and says she sees larry. I look up and ask her where? She motions towards some guys walking towards us. I don't recognize him at all.
Olivia looks apprehensive and mumbles something about how she is not sure she should be going with him.
We tell her if she doesn't want to go, then she shouldn't. She just nods.
He comes right up to us and says "Hi"
He looks at Olivia and asks her how she's doing. He compliments her on how she looks. She smiles. He then aks her if she's ready to go, and she gets up. I look mat her to see if she's OK. She looks like she is. We say "see ya" and she's off.
After she leaves Dolly and I talk about how we think this "date" was set up by Paul and Pete.
it's funny because we both have our suspicions that they arranged for Larry to entertain Olivia so they could be with us tonight - guaranteed.
They wanted to make sure she was occupied so she did not either tag along with us, or need to be babysat.
Oh well, whatever. At least we were aware that tis could be the case. It was our last night and we wanted to enjoy it too.
Dolly said she had to leave, it was time for her to meet paul down the street. She asked if I would be OK. I nodded. I told her if Pete didn't show, I would just go back up to the room, clean up and pack.
She looked at me and said "you know he'll show up, he likes you" I said "yeah, we'll see."
She left me there sitting all by myself.
I looked around, still no Pete, just as I was getting up, I caught a glimpse of him. I pretended not to see him and began walking away.
I heard him calling me. I turned around. He was running towards mw. He caught up to me and asked me what i was doing walking away from him. I said I thought he wasn't coming. He smiled and said "Of course he'd be here to see me, what kind of guy did I think he was?"
I smiled, thinking "I hope you are not just one of those guys who hooks up with tourists for fun" but I didn't say anything.
Pete asked where my drunk "friend" was and I told him the story of Larry calling and saying he danced with me, but wanted to go out with Olivia tonight. he asked me if I was jealous that I lost my "boyfriend" to Olivia. He was teasing me. I laughed and told him how I thought it wss a little "coincedental" that Larry called. I hinted at the fact I thought "someone" hooked them up.
He looked at me and said "really, who do you think would do that?"
I looked at him and said "I have an idea who it may have been"
He said he thought it might be Paul, since he was friends with Larry.
I said it was probably Paul and an accomplice.
He smiled, denying it was him. I knew he must have had something to do with it.
We went for a walk down to where there was some entertainment. We sat down for a bit. Everything was still all wet, and now my pants were soaked from sitting on the wet chairs. I told Pete I wanted to go back to my room and change. He said he would wait for me. I was hoping he would come up with me, but no luck.
I ran back to my room and put on some jeans and came back down.
He was still sitting in the same spot, all alone.
I smiled to myself thinking I keep leaving this poor guy waiting for me. I really didn't mean to, it just seems to happen.
He said I looked good in jeans. (I had not wore any pants since I arrived here)It felt strange to have my legs all covered up, I had grown used to wearing shorts all the time.
We had a drink and continued to walk around the resort talking.
We walked around by the pool and then I heard someone calling my name.
My heart jumped. It was Anthony! Oh my god.
He looked REALLY angry. Pete looked at me confused. Anthony came up to me and said he wanted to talk to me. Pete asked me if I knew this guy and I told him to give me a minute with him.
Pete walked away.
I went with Anthony just a few steps away and he just started saying how he really liked me and that I was supposed to be with him. He said that I told him I would come to see him and that he was waiting for me all day. He said he was looking for me and saw me with this other guy, I made him nervous and he was feeling crazy now.
I didn't know what to say to him. I just said I really wasn't into being with him, and had to go. I was getting mad at the way he was acting and I was starting to feel really guilty for leading him on. I also felt very uncomfortable being confronted by him this way and with Pete right there. I didn't like this feeling, or this sitution. I looked away from Anthony towards where Pete was. I wondered what he was thinking....
I told Anthony I had no intentions of being with him, and that I had to go. He started asking me why. I just told him I wasn't interested and walked away. He stayed where he was watching me with Pete. Pete looked at me and asked me what that was all about.
We walked towards a couch and sat down. I wasn't sure what to tell him. He asked me what was wrong, and what was up with "that guy"
I looked back to where Anthony was and saw him move to the garden area. He stayed there and watched me. I could feel his eyes on us. Great.
This was not the way I wanted to spend my last night here.
I had to tell Pete something.

I must have looked pathetically guilty. I thought to myself this is not the way I usually am.
I told Pete I had met Anthony a few days ago, and that he wanted me to spend time with him, but I wasn't interested.
I told Pete that maybe it was just a good idea for me to just go back to my room and forget the evening with him.
Pete asked me if that's all there was to it. I just told him I really didn't want to get into it.
He said "OK" But I could tell he wasn't impressed.
We got up and walked around a bit more. I was still feeling guilty, but I felt better now that Anthony wasn't watching us.
I told Pete I was glad we had a chance to meet and spend some time together. he looked at me and asked me why I was talking to him like I would never see him again.
I looked at him and said how i knew after tomorrow I wouldn't see him again. I said I knew the whole tourist game and how I would be gone tomorrow and that he would meet up with the next batch of pretty tourist girls.
He told me he was offended that I would accuse him of being a gigalo.
I said "Pete, it's OK, I'm not stupid, I know we won't see eachother again, and I just wanted to tell you that you are a nice guy and I have enjoyed spending time with you."
He said "I'm a nice guy, see it's the nice guys that never get anywhere"
I aked him what he meant. He said "well if I'm such a nice guy, why wouldn't you want to keep in touch and come see me again?, If I'm such a nice guy whay do you think I am a gigalo?"
He said "was I here waiting for your bus when you arrived?" He said "there are tourists arriving here and at every resort every day, am I waiting there for them?"
I shrugged my shoulders.
He added" where did you meet me?"
I said at amnesia. He said "That's not exactly a tourist spot, it was more for locals, he went there occasionally with his friends. I nodded, but was still pretty skeptical.
I just said "Well, I've only been here a few days and I am leaving, how do I know what you will be doing after I leave?"
He said "well, you won't, but if you really wanted to, you could stay with me, or we can plan to see eachother again."
I told him not to be crazy. He said Life is crazy.
He asked if I still would like to spend the evening with him. Or if I'd rather just say goodbye to him now.
I felt a bit better, so I told him I'd like to still spend the evening with him.
He took my hand and smiled. He said he was glad I was willing to hang out with him.
Deep down I knew this was the last time I would probably see or be with Pete, but somehow I was OK with it. I had no intentions of keeping a long distance relationship , but I liked him and enjoyed his company.
We walked out to his car.
