I am not involved with any decisions reagarding the construction at all ... he has his 'vision' and he is sticking to it!! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] Just fine with me ... I probably would NOT have the patience to deal with the JaJa style of 'soon come' ~ altho - I admit ... I feel as if I am missing out sometimes.

Our progress is coming along as we can [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70379-moneyeyes.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70379-moneyeyes.gif[/img], but that gives me time to be able to carry items I want incorporated one reach at a time ....

I was about to ask for photos - but I just remember Loopsee is in charge of that. I soooo look forward to them!

I thought it was about time to give another likkle update on my progress a Yaad.

Just got a phone call today to inform me that the windows are scheduled to arrive in Ja. about the 20th of April….that’s about 2 months late on an alredy long wait of 3 mo!
I was totally bummed to hear that because it sets me back from having any Apr. rentals plus means that I have to live with a whole lot of shyt in my house (furnishings & accessories for the addtion) that I really have no room for, for yet another month!!!

My house is not large, to begin with & storage is almost nonexistent, so I was really looking forward to the fact that I could begin to use the ample closets of the addition to store my things, plus all the linens, etc, that I’ve bought for the rental units…..

I’ve been living with concrete dust everywhere since Aug. of last year, and having everything in dissaray, and have been o.k. with it because I have an understanding of whagwan, but my patience has started to wear thin recently and I really need to be able to have my own space back, neat & orderly!!

I have shipped so many of my beloved African baskets and fabrics down here to decorate my own space, but have been unable to do anything there, because I’m so focused on getting the top floor rental unit finished & ready so I have more $ coming in to continue on furnishing the bottom unit…..I hate to say it, but it’s all about $.

What everyone says about building in Ja. is true….figure on twice as much for materials as you are quoted, because all those little incidentals, end up adding a lot to the quote….also remember that “transportation” costs a whole heap of $. My builder is very honest, reasonable, and does a great job, but some of the sub-contractors, when asked for a quote for work outside of the actual building scheme came up with some astronomical figures, much more than U.S. prices, so be prepared to bargain hard.

I’m STILL on a search for soil, and if I don’t get some soon, some of my plants will not be happy….did not hear back from Tecky about her Father’s land in Clarkstown, so have started to search out other sources….but I need this soil bad!,,,have lots of heather to plant that’s bursting the seams on the plastic bags, so need to find a solution fast!

The other thing that’s going on s I’ve adopted two adorable puppies! Talk about being a new mother all over again!…they were really not ready to be taken from the mother yet (beach dog, no owner), but was told, if I didn’t take them soon, someone else would teif dem….so, I accepted the challenge…..and it has been just that!…forget about getting to sleep in…puppies are up at the crack of dawn….and if they didn’t get enough to eat the night before, they are up every 2 hours all night long.

I wish I had pics to show, because they are adorable!…2 little white pups, male & female, with black eyes on the opposite sides of their faces, like mirror images. I’m taking both to the vet, about 1 ½ hour drive, on Mon. to get their shots & make sure everything is o.k.

Jah mama, it does my heart good to hear those words!! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70459-hugs.gif[/img]Tomorrow I'm on the hunt again for soil! was fortunate enough tonight, to meet an awesome man who is the manager of a nursery who gave me tons of cuttings for my garden, and also gave me a good dose of knowledge of those plants...I'm ready to plant...just gve me the soil!!
