You see Nina, we are a lot a like. I would love a surprise like this. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] Before I met Red I used to literally pick up and go... all the time. Now, things are different. I have more responsibility and blah blah blah...

I can understand Red's initial reaction to the surprise. He and I are a lot a like but we do have our differences, which will become even more apparent in the next section of the report. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70367-help.gif[/img]

As previously stated, Lee, whose name an number was given to me from SendnUluv, provided us a comfortable ride into Negril.

Red and I had been up since 3:30 a.m. and had been feeling sleepy in the car. As soon as we arrived at the Whistling Bird hotel our enegery levels soared. We quickly walked over to the little hut that houses the check in desk and were given the keys to our room. The front desk woman walked us down a long windy path, covered in heavenly scented jasmine, to our room.

I should note that this room was free. Yes, 3 free nights at the hotel. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif[/img] A few years ago I won Mrs. Jamaicans.com and as a result I won 3 free nights in Negril. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70371-jump.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70371-jump.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70371-jump.gif[/img] I had a list of hotel to choose from and I picked whistling bird off of the list. I had walked the grounds during our December trip, and really liked the plants and that it was sort of tucked away off of the beach. I also thought the staff was wonderful. I remember walking the path and everyone who worked there stopped to say hello, see if I needed any help, and was super friendly. I couldn't wait to stay there.

So, Red and I finally reach our little one bedroom cottage and open the door. There is a queen size bed, a large celing fan cranking at high speed, an armoire, a table, and a big old walk in shower. The toilet and the shower are in one room together and the sink is outside the bathroom near the bed.

The Bathroom



It is a quaint little room with the basics. I am great with that. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70409-waytogo.gif[/img] Having stayed many times in Portland with times of no running water, current that comes and goes, and mosquitos the size of pigeons, I was content. Red on the other hand was a little less than thrilled.

The first thing he noticed was the lack of air conditioning, and I won't lie, the room was HOT. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif[/img] It was very hot and muggy, but we just figured it had been closed up all day and the fan had probably on just been switched on when we walked in. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70409-waytogo.gif[/img] He was also upset that the wall safe did not work. He went to the front desk, informed them it didn't work, and they offered to move us into another room once one was available.

I tell Red not to worry about there being no air, not to worry about the safe, that we could deal with that later, lets just get on the beach. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/bannana_purple.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/bannana_purple.gif[/img] Now, experience has told me this isn't the best thing to do. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70388-shameonyou.gif[/img] As eager as we both are to lay on the beach and soak up some rays, we need to acknowledge that we haven't eaten since 7 a.m. when we were at the airport. I knew that we needed food, Red knew that we needed food, but somehow every single time that we land in Jamaica, the call of sand and clear ocean waters overrides our normal human urge to eat.

Red brushes off his concerns, not wanting to be a spoil sport and still very grateful for the trip. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70377-loveeyes.gif[/img] We forget about the hunger pains in our bellies. We tear off our clothes, put on bathing suits, load up on sunscreen, and head to the beach.
