This is a picture of my brother in law. Yes - believe it - I said, BROTHER IN LAW! He's 6 and 1/2 years old and the picture mite not show it, but, his eye lashes are longer than a horse's tale! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

He's as cute as a button, I tell you.

Why do I have a 6 yr old brother in law? His dad, my father in law, is in his late 50's but believe me, could pass for 25. That should sum it up! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif[/img]

The drive thru to Port Antonio was nice, nice. Lots of work being done on the ‘highway’ thru some parts there. I love the lush, lush green of this drive.

The stand is about 30 40 minutes before you come into Port Antonio.

Yes Jahbuddah - before I go onto the south coast, i'm going to try & double back & repost those shots from the first page. I THINK I have an idea now, as to why they're not showing to everyone.

So - Still heading east toward Port Antonio. I love these long, green, lonely stretches. Not a lot of traffic. So serene.

By this time, since arriving JA, we’re now on our 4th police stop – traffic stop. Happened once in Mobay, once just before we got to Runaway Bay and once when we were going to the tax office in St Ann’s Bay one afternoon.

First Time Visitors: don’t worry – this is HIGHLY unlikely to happen to you. Someone will correct me here if they disagree but I’ll stick to my opinion and decades of experience on this one.

Yahdies: bway police dem a come ruff no! Dem nah RHAMP fi joke! Dem brite yuh si!

You know the runninz – it went something like this.

Ok wait – I guess I should explain my stance on this. I DON’T BELIEVE IN PAYING THEM – NO MATTER WHAT! Someone has to take a stand! Mi preffa tekki ticket fi two tohzin dolla rahda dan gi dem five undred fi dem pahkit!

Hubby on the other hand, feels it better to just pay on move on. Not cause any waves, But when will they stop if we all keep paying them? They KNOW they can get away with it and are so brazen about it that they’re now shocked when you tell them you’ll take the ticket instead. It’s not up to ME to pay the policeman’s salary directly – it’s up to the government.

Can I get an amen?

Police pull us over.

Hubby gets papers together to show officer and, as is customary back home, gets out of car to give it to the officer.

To hubby’s disdain, I get out too.

Officer says, “bway – a wah sumpting mia look fi buy wah breakfahs no u nuh ...”

(translation – give me some money & I’ll let you go or you can get ticketed)

I start coughing profusely – you’d have thought I had rickets or scarlett fever or something – I’m trying to get my husband’s attn to step aside and talk to him – ok ... yell & demand that he not pay. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img]

He turns and sees the smoke coming out of my ears – I’m furious. Why give in to this jerk? Imagine how many people he’s going to stop today & how much money he’ll make?

We argue.

My voice is shrill with determination. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img]

Cop starts to think I’m a tourist.

Gets nervous.

After a good few minutes arguing with my sweetheart (yes minutes, because I’m NOT giving up) cop comes over to us:

“Ay – my yute, my yute – easy, easy - nuh badda wurrie man, nuh badda wurrie. Onnoo juss gwan an tek time drive”

SUCCESS!

A small one albeit, because I know they’ll just get their $ from the next one they pull over.

Anyway friends – these are some pix after we drove off from the police stop. Coming up on Pt Antonio. I love these bridges. Even the stop lites were an unreal red. And the old bridge right next to the new one.

I agree with you ..... stand firm - do not just hand over your money - now - mind you, it has NEVER happened to me - we have only had a car once on our own and thank God, never got stopped while he was teaching me JaJa driving ... [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70392-silly.gif[/img]

Have been stopped only a couple times for papers to be viewed and all was order ...
