In response to the second question: Once an individual becomes a citizen, she/he can travel outside of the country as much as they want. The INS has no jurisdiction over citizens.

I have a somewhat unique situation. I lived in JA for over 7 years, had a son that was born there who is a US citizen. My sons father came here on a fiancee visa, but we didnt get married and he returned to Jamaica.

What type of VISA could he be eligible for in order to come see his son (who is only 8) Can I sponsor him on behalf of my minor son. He doesnt want to LIVE here...but would like to be able to visit.

Question: how do you go about obtaining immigration status for a jamaican child that was adopted by a us citizen. The child has no papers ie. green card, alien number, passport, visa and the child lives in the US. How do you obtain legal papers for the child? Isnt the child automaticly a us citizen seeing how the adoption is complete? Is imigration nessesary?

Well littlekay, she might want to find an employer willing to sponsor her for an employment based visa, depending on her qualifications, or she can attempt to obtain an F-1 visa, if she intends to continue with her education.

My only question is why some are able to get visas and some not.. when there are parallel situations?? home in ja. bank acct in ja, even job? some get the permit to come visit..and some not....

Well championgal, you are partially right. Under the Child Citizenship Act, the child would automatically become a citizen. Her attorneys in the adoption process should have taken care of this.

Also, as a Jamaican-born, now US citizen, has she lost all her Jamaican citzenship rights in JA?
