Portmore Boycott...

...Of the toll road is on in earnest. Traffic backed up for miles this morning when motorists chose to use the Mandela Highway in effect boycotting the $J60 toll on the former Causeway road that has linked Kingston to Portmore from the late 60`s.
I personally would like to encourage visitors to join in the boycott.

Sorry Q, me nah siddung inna traffic fi save $60J.

Right now, me live very near where I work. But in the past, I had a long commute and would cut my travel time by taking the toll road.

Check me on the next boycott.

So Q you and Rory ago car pool and split the difference. Mi would support the boycott, the whole manner in which it was handeled was bush league, how is the Mayor of Paortmore gonna hear the pay say 30$ and still put in 50dollars as the final amount. I hope unu vote him clatt out of office. Dyam, mi used to lov drive pon Sunday go Causeway and get mi fish or head to Hellshire.

a mean mi know seh di govt a crooks, and if the govt used their heads, there were more feasible options that they could have invested in to move the masses, but nobody did anything when the whole thing started.
They thought they could have bullied the govt into rolling back the toll to $30.
But my take is, they should have forced the govt to come up with a diffrent solution.. A commuter train system, a ferry system. Anything but simply another friking road.

If the managers of the road cant manke they money the govt promised, then they can simply sue the govt.. and who gonna pay? Tax payers. And bet it gonna cost more than $120 a day or whatever the toll cost fi a year.

Mi feel it, cause my righs dem hafi use the road, and the companies not paying us anymore for haulage.
But the time one a my driver saves using the toll, works out in gas savings. So mi naah bawl... yet .

We need fi do wi talking wid votes. Wi love the hype and excitement too much.

$60 a monkey money compared to the savings.

This is very true, but I think the people complaining about the principle of the thing, since it appears they were the feather in the hat for the french firm to make a kings ransom on the highway project and the Govt was not upfront with this.
