AN expatriate has been selected as the new executive director of the
Education Transformation Team, the body spearheading the reform of the
education system in Jamaica, say Sunday Observer sources.
Frank Weeple, a former director of education services for the Torbay
Council in the United Kingdom, replaces Dr Andree Nembhard who resigned as head of the transformation team late last year, months after her appointment.
Torbay is a popular holiday spot located on Britain's south coast, east of Plymouth.
Since January, Dr Disraeli Hutton has been acting as executive director.
He told the Sunday Observer that he would continue playing a role in the $520 billion transformation programme to be executed over a decade.
The ETT is supported by an 11-member advisory board, chaired by Dr Rae Davis, the president of the University of Technology and head of the task force that developed the blueprint for the reforms.
