Memory in the laptop is fairly simple. The most difficult ones require removing the keyboard, but most have a little door for the memory on the bottom. Even with removing the keyboard, it's usually two screws and it lifts out. Just have to be careful with the keyboard cable.

look, i have instructions as to how to take the keyboard apart and put in the memory thingy. The thing is I am not very good at wielding certain hardware, so my fear is that I will get stuck at some point.

Hey while you were away I upgrade the memory in my ancient Dell 4150. Same procedures and it was a breeze.
Just follow the instructions.

so I went to Staples and got the computer guy there to remove the back panel and put in the memory chip.

now it looks like it is giving me performance issues [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70394-bawlout.gif[/img]

Did you order the correct memory (part number or series)?

Have the correct parity?

Correct buss/clock speed rating?

How many sticks did you install?

Installed it in the correct socket (0 or 1)?

How much memory did you originally have, and how much did you install?
