Monday, we are heading to Negril today. And we hear that the sun is shining bright. The sun came out for about 45 minutes on Saturday and peeked at us on Sunday. Monday was also a day of rain. People in the buffet line for breakfast were talking about how long they’d been in Jamaica with no sun

Man, it must be hard leaving cold weather to vacation where you anticipate sun, stay nine days and return without a tan One lady had been there for 9 days and she was leaving today as well. 2 days of sun out of 9 she said.

Oh well, we’re headed to Negril and I AM returning home with a tan. By now we had our bearings together and we’re ready to do the darn vacation thang!

The rain is pouring and we have a front row pool view of the raindance. I walked out near the water, put my toes in and couldn’t believe that I never even touched the sand until today and that my bathing suits are still packed, and I only wore shorts one day.

The driver from Clive’s met us at the airport at 1pm. Perfect timing. We’d only been off the other van for about 30 minutes or so. We used Clive’s transportation for the Montego Bay-Negril leg of the trip. I did several cost comparisons before booking with 2 different companies. It was more economical to do it the way I did with the 2 companies



We were the only ones on the van so we had our choice of stops. We stopped for drinks and a restroom break before heading to Bigga’s. It was a delight to stop at Bigga’s on the way into Negril. Arriving at 6’butt early o’clock in the morning, nothing is open and a trip to Bigga’s has to be made from Negril during the week and I cant even think about stopping on the way to the airport, never enough time. Greedy me, I have to order some of everything. I get soup fish and chicken. I also received an invitation to a party the following night

Once we’re all stuffed, we take off for Negril. I have got to be on the beach before sunset.

I see the purple RIU (a recurring landmark) and I start doing the cabbage patch and running man in my head, I’m so happy, I see the landmark.

Arrival at Rayon and I really do feel like I am returning home. The staff is all smiles to see us and to see me return. And I am just as happy to see them too

The first person to overtake me with a hug is my housekeeper from my previous trip, she came running out of the office to greet me. I love Jamaica

As I walk to my room, I am greeted by name from more staff. My room is in the back of the building and it's my first time having a room back there. Still quiet but my room was arranged slightly different than the rooms in the front building. And I had a sliding patio door this time

I kept looking at my watch and at the sun. I zip through unpacking and put on my suit and head to the beach. I’m so freggin happy to see the sun and dry sand. I was determined to be on the beach by 4pm.






I stop at my usual hangouts and drink as I make my way down the beach.

Even though I don’t stay at Seasplash anymore, I do enjoy the beach area down there and the staff so I usually spend a few days hanging out on their beach drinking, eating and sunbathing . I don’t know why I was surprised that the staff remembered Kat from 2 years ago when she stayed there, but they did.

I went to Bourbon Beach that night, had a few drinks and headed back to the hotel and called it a night pretty early. I didn’t club everynight as I usually do and it did feel good to go to bed before the sun came up

Some of the next days are at random, notes got out of order and wet

Happy to be in Negril, I woke up and take my morning/midday walk. I stopped by Kat’s room to let her know that I was leaving; she was still in the bed but said that we’d hang when I came back.

I’ve always seen the patties from Niah’s but never tried them.

I walked down near Alfred’s and turned around, hunger was starting to set it and I didn’t want to fall out from famish.

With sweat dripping in my eyes, I see the Niah’s sign and walk toward his stall.

I am delighted with watching him display his skills. While the patty is cooking, I wander around and look at some of the vendor stalls nearby.
