This is what I love about JA - the diversity. I never venture farther than Ochi to visit family and was taken aback by how different and beautiful the parishes farther east are. I would love to explore the south side on another trip as well. </div></div>

They are so different the drive from st ann to santa cruz thru spalding, mandville sur tree hill is a lovely drive...roads hmmm...well you know....lol

I was happy for the break to stretch my legs and take in some mountain air. The rain came down again and we just stood in the door way of a little food shop and waited for it to stop. I mean, we could have run to the car but why? :Grin:

We head for the Marina so I can get my ice cream and as I said earlier I was disappointed I had my heart set on Rum n Raisin but all I could eat is Coconut. It was good enough but not what I was jonesing for for over 2 weeks

Devon House in Port Antonio



Shots of the Errol Flynn Marina where Devon House is located. Normally on a weekend night there are line ups a mile deep for the ice cream.














I aske the driver what these are but he had no diea. Any one else?



Across the street in the Marina from devon House is this club. Music is playing 24/7....nice oldies and stuff so it is never jarring. I didnt get a chance to go up there as planned but if you like to play pool and have a laid back place to have drinks and chill, this is the place.

yeah, this was a cool experience....andd a a bit disconcerting as well. But I guess this is no different than the small town reactions a person gets going anywhere rural.

But Jamaicans are very social ppl so everyone knows everyone and how you are treated or welcomed depends on who you flex with. It is great security b/c with all the suss that comes with a new person about the town, you cant get away with crap too tough

I got a lot of looks like, they would look at me and then look at who I was standing with, and their faces would relax a bit b/c they knew C and G.

We did return to Black River later that night to hang out at a little rum bar that is open 24/7. It is interesting to see how ppl watch you when u are a new face in their neighborhood.

Excuse my stupid comment about the wood table Blond moment

The treehouses are pine - a type I couldnt prounouce much less spell...and the roof is made out of cedar, so the place smelled like heaven. All the furniture and art pieces are from the Portland area. They were specific about this fact.

I found it by complete accident. I was looking at videos done by the Rickard Bros. and they had just made an advertising shot for Kanopi House. I checked with Trip Advisor for more info. They have some good info on the place with visitor reviews - check <span style="font-weight: bold">Speciality lodgings</span> for reviews

u know jitterbug, I am gonna ask G tonight to confirm. Lord knows, I have a bad short term memory so you could very well be right. The place is a 20 min drive past Boston.

Do you know of a club owner who lived in your area that was shot and killed outside his club in August? If you do and that is your area then you are right

the rum bar we went to is in the same area
and there is a food shop open all night that sells the best fried chicken ever!

MGee, I was born in London and then migrated to Canada.

Jazz - there is a hot and cold pipe in the shower but the hot water is something closer to lukewarm to me. You do have to let in run for a bit if u want the warmer water to flow. I actually was okay with this since it was outside. Normally, I cant take a pure cold water shower but I was good at Kanopi.

we didnt get a chance to chat tonight but I'll ask him tomorrow.

We were supposed to go to Bath the same day we did Reach Falls but since we didnt push out until late in the afternoon the boys decided we didnt have time to take it in since it was an hour plus drive from where we were.

After that we had to head to Ochi and the trip done.

One of my cousins told me that there are hotels/guesthouses at Bath. If I had known that then I would have said we could go and then stay the night.

Anyhow, I do have it on my to do list for my next trip.

I loved the drive along the coast thru the Long Bay area. The view is just stunning along the coast. That is why it was nice to have someone who lived there take you thru areas you wouldnt have thought to drive thru.
