Just catching up on the report. I read the first page the day before my trip (kind of like an appetizer), and now I am reading to fill the void left from leaving Ja. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cry.gif[/img] The photos are even more spectacular than usual, and I didn't think that was possible.

I thought of you a couple times when I was in Negril: when it was blazing hot walking, and when I heard "She's Royal".

You usually do Montego Bay…I’m happy and quite jealous, you sunned in Negril. I don't have to ask if you had a great time, I know you did. Where did you stay???

We walked closely with Dr. Scott as he led the way. Telling us when to duck, step down, step up and always look to the ground as we bent to clear low rock formations. His voice is calming and clear as he relates the history of the caves and how it was a passage way for slaves including his own ancestors. Something he is most proud of. I concentrated hard on his words and studied the patterns naturally embedded on the walls as he pointed them out.

“Step down three steps.”

The three of us follow him quietly. Taking pictures and helping each other to see the lions, faces and other imprints formed in the rocks. He would pause, watching our reactions when we were able to locate the images.

“Turn in here slowly.”

The cave is cool inside, but not cold or damp. The temp was comfortable. Natural holes in the ceiling kept the inside ventilated.

We get to the massage area. Dr. Scott takes his time to assist each of the ladies down into the water which is about knee deep. I find a chair like rock cluster to sit on and wait. A rare occasion where my extra bunz padding came in handy.

Holding out his hand “come”

“No, I didn’t wear a suit.”

He comes out of the water closer to me.

“Come put your feet in and sit.” He looks down at my noticeably swollen foots. “the wata is good fe dat. Ease de swell.”

“No thank you. I’ll stay here. I’m really unsteady right now and I’m afraid I’ll loose my balance and fall. I’m okay.”

He stood for a few more seconds, smiled than returned to the girls.

Mokatee is first. They told me he massaged them with a honey mixture. No one talked. The three of us concentrated on our thoughts as hard as Dr. Scott concentrated on his hands. The only sound heard was the splash of water when he maneuvered from side to side or the dripping from a filled container he used to rinse their skin.

Sammy sat nearby…almost motionless as she patiently waited her turn. Her head is bowed down, I can see her. I can’t see her face.

The three of us are together, but in different worlds right now. I’m watching them almost feeling the total relaxation they are feeling. For a few minutes I forgot about the bats, the uneven ceiling and the feeling of being confined. I forgot how windy it is outside and how I couldn’t wait to stand under the sunlight. I intently think how grateful I was to be there with them and wonder if they knew it.

I wondered if I did something or said something ditzy at any time during the past 4 days that made them stop, turn and look at each other confused, then shake their heads deciding it wasn’t worth figuring me out but simply agreeing....

At some point the ladies switched places. It wasn’t long after that our private moments were shattered by a couple who came to take a dip. Of course they were loud. Of course they felt everyone was interested in their conversation. Of course I couldn’t wait for them to leave.

Sadly, our peace inside was never restored after that. I tried to re-connect with Mokatee and Sammy, but distractions prevented that. I decided to write in my notebook. A small group was on tour and entering our area. On top of that, their driver felt it was a good opportunity to approach me ask me out. I felt the opposite. He was polite, but the timing was wrong…the atmosphere was wrong…who ever heard of macking someone in a bat filled cave????? Not romantic!!! I let him chat….tell me where he lives, what he does besides drives…on and on and on. Asked me to join him for lunch the next day. Told him I had lunch plans. He reaches down, takes my note book and pen and writes.

“Here…my information. My name and phone number. Call me if you change you mind.”

The ladies are finished and coming toward me. I take my book, smile and we say goodbye. I look down at the writing.

His name is Winston. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif[/img]

We gather our things and finish the tour with Dr. Scott taking Tee through a dark hole to see the top of the bottomless pool then a stop at the alter.

It felt GOOD to finally be under the sunlight.

Roaring River is such a special place almost magical with extraordinary natural beauty it was fitting that the cave experience was there. Every trip to Beloved I try to stop long enough to listen and reflect. While Tee was having her mineral massage with Dr. Scott that was my time to reflect, listen, meditate and pray. It was a soul satisfying moment. I can' t say enough good things about Dr Scott such a gentle man who seems to be able to pin point just what is needed to calm your soul. All three of us got something from this experience and I'm so glad we were able to share it all in our own way.
