Thanks Q.K. That's nice of you to say!! And that's a good idea!! Shugar Shug's little Miss looks to be close in age to my Likkle Mo, and just as fun...hmmmm. MAybe we'll have someone to visit in Panama one day!!

Okay, so we are moving on....
After 4.5 hours travelling up the Li River, I decided to get off in Yangshuo which was supposed to be an interesting, rural area.

We went first to the local market and bought some lovely Chinese silk scarves for Likkle Mo's Gramma, and some water and snacks. (Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of the market - which I still am amazed at), but it was just your average, packed, hot market and that is probably why. After being on the river in the heat, I think I just wanted to get a few likkle tings and grab a bus to go to a minority village outside Yangshuo, which is what we did.

This little village totally sustains itself. Everyone lives together and has a different trade that they are good at which helps sustain the littl community. Some are butchers, some dry and carve the bones of the animals for combs, knives, etc, some of the women work the looms and make the cloths that they use for clothers, some carve wood, some cook, some farm and work the vegetable fields and rice paddys.... VERY hard working and independent people. China still has approximately 33 different minorities that are recognized and able to live on their own terms in their own villages - this is one of them.

We took a bus about 30 minutes from Yaghshuo and then had to take a little sampan about 20 minutes up a little finger of the river off the Li River to get to the village.

This is the plane that we took from Guilin to Shenzen, which was our last point in China before we got on another local bus to take us over the border into Hong Kong.




Unlike commuter planes in North America, even for this flight of only 40 minutes, we were given a hot sandwich, bottle of water and piece of fruit. These were the size of planes that we took most on our journey throughout China. They were a relatively cheap means of transportation, and really, in a country so HUGE, you need to take a plane to get around if you want to cover a lot of ground.

Those mountains in the Guilin area are out of this world. They look like someone planted them there on purpose and they could fall any time now.

The plane is a Boeing 737-700 with optional $900,000 blended winglets which give the plane 2% better gas mileage.

Yes Magic... those likkle planes were a pretty sweet ride!!

And the mountains in this area of China sure were out of this world! It was almost like we set down into Willy Wonka's factory - those mountains are absolutely unbelieveable, and they are everywhere!! There were a lot of mountains in China, but there, there were just random blobs of mountains everywhere!! Very surreal!!

Oh for fun! I am so thankful that you took the time to share your journey with us! I still can't get over likkle Mo all grown so. What a lucky young lady she is to have a mom like you who shares these kinds of adventures with her to so many parts of the world! Kudo's to you mo_fire!!!!
