Alrite! We reach Hong Kong!

I'm convinced Hong Kong was designed by a man and for men!

You have a dedicated street for everything, which makes shopping for something real nice easy and efficient.

First you drop of the wife/GF at "Ladies Street".

Then you proceed solo to Sneakers Street, Goldfish Street, Camera Street, Cell Phone Street, TV Street, Car Accesories Street or any other street designed for men to get what they need.

Then you pick up the wife/GF from Ladies Street and go home.
And both of you are happy.

I love Hong Kong!

But do you know what Likkle Mo's favorite street was?? (And oddly enought it was one street over from our hotel on our walking route the the rest)
&quot;Designer Dog&quot; street - I kid you not, it was a whole loooong street dedicated to shop after shop of designer (and likely puppy mill - eew) dogs!
Poor kid wanted to take them all home!!

Yes Sugar Shug, Hong Kong was great! And definitely family friendly!
It does NOT compare to mainland China in many ways at all. Mainland China, we could not communicate at all (or very little anyway), and H.K. is at least 50% english speaking from being under British rule for so many decades.
China - no dairy, cheese, western foods for kids - Hong Kong, Western food options everywhere, good, safe pasturized milk, etc.

China, very tricky in terms of travelling around the country (although I suppose we made it, didn't we?? ) Hong Kong - very efficient, New York-like grid system, very clean transportation, very on-time, I found very easy to navigate, and I felt very safe zipping around here and there. 8 million Hong Kongers depend on the transportation systems every day - I guess it better be efficient. And really? It is very cheap to get around too!

Also, H.K. is very easy to get to all the surrounding islands by ferry. They run often and are very clean and safe too!!

Put it on the list for sure!!

I'll try to post Ocean PArk, Sha Tin and Po Lin Monesterys later after work - but for now, mi gone!!

Hong Kong is a good introduction to China Sugar. It's got the Chinese flavour, but at the same time it has English signs and many people speak English and it runs like London.

I have to look for desgner puppy street next time Mo.
But first, I need to get a HKG trip and stock up at Sneakers Street. Those trips are hard to get though!

Me and Likkle Mo definitely stocked up on funky Converse All Stars on Sneaker Street!! I though we were walking in style until I saw our (cheap) options there!!!

Well, I am going to get back at posting a few more pictures today... what a process trying to just pick a few photos from so many incredible places!!

Anyway, this first one if the Central Pier on the Hong Kong Island side... it is there the Ferries take you from the Kowloon side (where I posted the picture of the Clocktower) over to Hong Kong Island. This is also where you would board different ferries to go to the outlying islands - Lantau, Macau, etc.

The reason I took this picture is because I wonder if I took the same picture 10 years from now, if there will still be a ferry terminal. The way they continue to build up out of the ocean to get &quot;more space&quot; to build on is shocking! I wonder if eventually the two places will be connected by land.

On the Wednesday morning that we were in Hong Kong, it was rainy and gray, so we needed to find something to do....

I suggested the Hong Kong Art Gallery. It seemed like a good, air conditioned outing. Plus we love different kinds of Art, and thought this would be representative of the Art in Hong Kong and surrounding areas.

As it turns out, on Wednesday mornings, admission is free to the Art Gallery - so it was an extra jackpot!! Unfortunately, we were not permitted to take pictures in certain halls (like calligraphy and paintings due to damaging aged paper and ink, etc.), but we did take some pictures of some other interesting things. Plus there were some interactive activities for Likkle Mo that were great too, like impression print making and embossing, water calligraphy, etc.

It was a great way to spend a couple of hours, and I highly recommend The Hong Kong Art Gallery for others which is right down my the harbour, so easy to get to also.

Now, sorry for the delay - Likkle Mo finally got her puppy on Satday - a likkle girl named ROXY - a Scottie Dog, and I have had NO time to continue here...

So where was I???

Next, we took a subway up to Lok Fu to go to Wong Tai Sin Temple which is the place that packs in more worshippers in Hong Kong than any other - and it's a mix of Taoist, Buddhist and Confucian. Tons of eye-watering incense, temples full of kneeling worshippers rattling Joss Sticks to have read by the fortune tellers (including Likkle Mo &amp; I)... it was a real, authentic, eye-opening look at these cultures and popular Chinese religions.

Hey Mo, did the crowds a ppl in HKG bother you?

That's my only complaint with the city. All the streets are always full of people to the point where it makes walking difficult unless you embrace the bulldozer approach to walking.

Worse still when its raining, and everybody trying jook fi yuh yeye out wid di umbrella!

The place full up eeh!

Yes... the crowds dem unbelieveable fe tru!!
I learned a long time ago how to walk with an elbow out to get a little more space... but in Hong Kong, you don't even have enough space to do that!!
I was more concerned with likkle Mo's height, and her being steamplowed under!! And the fears of losing her in one of thise crowds was very real as well!
We had a real good emergency plan if that happened (which fortunately we didn't have to use), and for the rest, she had to hold my hand tight, and walk behing me so I could steamplow through the masses, and at least her toes were saved.

So I guess you could say, I was okay. It made Likkle Mo a likkle nervous though. That plus all the coughing in close quarters. You can't really get away from that and the smoke very well... no wonder I had a cold the last 3 days in H.K....

It definitely would not deter me from going back though... LOVED it there! And now at least we know what we face in going there!!
