I stayed here:
I was lucky in that I got "family and friends' rate" from a friend who worked in their call centre. Paid 85 euros a night, just over half price of the cheapest rate(!). Saw on the room door the rates were for a single - 160 - 300
My goodness, 6 km to the Notre Dame, and that's only the first place I went to.....walking.
But it was a great place, no restaurant, but all around anyway, so they don't need one. Only do breakfast (included).
And they have a small bar in the lobby.
The room was small, but that's o.k. big enough anyway, it was cosy, very clean
, good bathroom, great shower telly to watch while lying in bed - CNN (Constantly Negative News 
), lovely room-lady (from Haiti!, same as the taxi driver back to the station, both very nice people). Nice people on reception.
But Paris is full of hotels, and some really cheap I'm sure.

lovely calm place, no traffic noise, just birds....great for getting out of the Paris melée for a while

great that they have all these monuments to WWII, the one on the right is Buchenwald (concentration camp). Of course Paris was occupied by the nastis too....

Edith Piaf was a French singer, born "in the gutter", so to speak....
She became most famous for her song "Non, je n'e regrette rien" (No, I don't regret anything"
.
I'm sure there are lots of people in the Americas who have never heard of her (how much French music was there in the 60's - maybe in Quebec).

Oscar Wilde - terrible, all the graffiti...
(Jim Morrison's grave had gates around it, it has been so desecrated, the headstone was stolen about 12 years ago - there was a guide there - and you can see where part of the stone itself has been hacked away by "souvenir-hunters"....

I also walked past the tomb of Balzac, so surprised I didn't take a photo! Very handy, there's an office where you can get a map showing all the famous graves. Strangely, Karel Appel is not on it. But the guide was right, I checked Wiki, he is buried there.
Some more famous there: Modigliani, Stephane Grappeli, Moliere, Pissaro, Chopin, the list goes on and on...
Must be spooky at night....

on top of the hill with the Sacre Couer(sp?), saw the Eiffel Tower so took the photo, nice little extra with the two guys enjoying life.

it's the highest point in Paris, this.
Do you see the tower on the very top with the open space with pillars? Saw people up there so you can go all the way up, the view must be magnifique!
