Whats it mean that u get 'council rent', and who qualifies for that? I assume the 200,000 is to buy, whats a rental like over there and how it compares to salaries? Just trying to get an idea of how ppl live.Comment

hi, back again....
Thanks for all your positive feedback!
So, finally the weather is getting better, we had winter back with a vengeance....easter was cold, raining and the kind of w/e to just curl up on the sofa (or in bed) with a good book, the telly or a dvd.....
But today, went out and took some more photos...before my camera gives up completely. Have to take it to the menders'...
Anyway, downloading my photos I saw these I had forgotten about, on the way home on the bike from Los Van Van, stopped off at Maloe Melo - haven't been there for donkey's years.... - still going strong. A great night!

This is the only kids farm in the centre of the city, there are a few on the outskirts, mostly in parks etc. See the sheep passed out and there's a rabbit hanging out at the front....it's great, they do lots of kids activities, and you can go and volunteer and mess out the stalls
You can also buy eggs there!
They used to have a pot-bellied pig, but he either left or died....
Would not say no to living in that white house across the water, or the one with all the windows...!! Must be an amazing light and view.....

Being a tiny country with a high density of population, they are always building new houses (appartment buildings)...these they built on a "tongue" of land on the IJ, the water behind the Central Station and goes out to the North Sea Canal, and the world....
What a bore! We used to have a great view over the north of Amsterdam before they blocked it, and you could see the cruise ships, moving like a skyscraper in Manhattan, going out to sea at the end of the day....(note to self: put down Sail Amsterdam 2010 in August dates in dairy!)

Amsterdam has a pile of quirky, great little shops, all kinds of stuff.....
believe it or not, all the stuff in this window is made from chocolate, yes, also the shoes. How about that for a chocoholic shoe fetishist present?!!

This shop sells spanish food and bric-a-brac. Love those plates etc. but lucky me has a sister who lives there so can get it much cheaper on the market
strange, I righted it the right way up, but still copied this one....(dunno why, cos I took the photo the right way up!!
