This is how you transport your kids, she has one on the back and the baby on the front. An Aussie I travelled with in Kenya came over and couldn't believe we don't wear crash helmets
Sometimes they put a box or basket on the front for transporting your shopping. Or bike bags on the back.
This is just outside CS by the way.

I was there yesterday cos I was in the area so popped in to say hi. One of the guys gave me a fabulous CD!
Junior Kelly played last night in Milky Way, she said he and the band were coming to eat at 7 (had to go home to cook... )

She told me Jah Cure was also there...they all come to eat when they play here.

talking of skates......god, this is such a crazy city!!

for years there's been this guy who skates the streets wearing nothing but a leather string haven't seen him for ages (meaning last summer), did read in the paper that he went to a town outside and the police told him to put some clothes on (here they turn a blind eye, so long as he's not starkers he's not breaking a law).

In this one he's wearing more clothes (guess it depends on the weather, what he wears).....

I like a poetry slam/ original music evry now and then, but mi nuh know if I could survive on a steady diet of it

Love the skater dude- remind me of the naked cowboy of new york. (wait was the ny guy naked, or was he just a cowboy, now mi forget ).

I know a woman who lives there in Greenwich Village and she invited me to come stay over on her sofa
She's from D.R. so will be a fun stay, I'm sure. (but not on top of the list at the moment...).

This is a famous Dutch singer, not really into her music (what I've heard of it) but LOVE this song.....
(not keen on the video either, but the song is out of this world! ).

She's playing in the Westerpark in July, which is great, cos you can sit outside the venue and hear it for free!

This is great, cos you can see the Central Station in this one in the background. And eh, need I say it, they are renovating it and the whole thing is wrapped up invisible.

If I remember right the guy wore cowboy hat, cowboy boots and bikini bottoms and I think he played the guitar. Wonda wappen to him- guess like u buddy there, him cant really operate in winter tho.

SO MArielle- u guys spend a lotta time in 'coffee shops' or are u nature loving and outdoors mucha the time?

Yea, him a friend He's a djembe player and in Europe (not in Holland) right now, he's Guinean. Met him in Gambia where he used to live and play the hotel circuit with the great African Ballet group. I got to see a lot of hotels there

Yea, we get snow, not every winter - this one has been long and cold - and yes it's a very wet climate, not dry cold, which is preferable. This type seems to get right into your bones .
If you live on the water you have to insulate your houseboat very well.
Those fancy houses on the canals - most are appartments - cost a bomb! Easily a few million for a whole house...
People like Ringo Starr and Brad Pitt have had a house (Ringo) and an appartment (Brad) here on the canal.
I know a guy called B. Pitt, not brad obviously, but he used to get heavy-breathing phone calls from women , cos he was in the phone book. It cracked me up when I heard that, cos he's more fabulous furry freak brother than brad pitt

Oh yea, also know the coffeeshop where Brad Pitt and George Clooney hang out in incognito
They filmed Oceans 12 in Amsterdam.

A small appartment, around 50 square metres - that's 2 rooms, hall, kitchen, bathroom, and most likely with a balcony - will set you back about 200.000,-- and of course, the better the location, the higher the price. I am lucky, I live in an A1 location on council rent!!

Just before Lucky Dube was due on I went to the front, as much as I could....photos ain't great, but I do have one now of Lucky Dube! And more poignant, now he is no longer with us...
