There are several Buffalo ranches up in my old neighborhood and the Buffalo are always getting loose, sometimes in large quantities, they are very hard to contain. They take a big possee of volunteers on horseback to round em up!

One time Val and I headed through Yellowstone just after a huge May snowfall. It was above the height of my van on the sides of the road and there was no place to pull over. When we finally made it to a few small clearings they were buring Bufflalo carcasses all over, many died in the snowfall. I can still smell the stench thinking about it!

I can hardly walk. Hopefully some day I'll get to enjoy the party without getting burned out before it starts. ...chapter 2: we woke up on Madeline Island with daughter unit #1 informing us that she now had a plane ticket on N.W. Airlines from Minneapolis to Seattle. So we headed out. ...and, of course, Daughter unit 2 didn't want to be left with us. A fate worse than death. So we got her a ticket as we headed south into Minnesota. Then daughter unit 1 realized that expediadotcom had issued her ticket in her boyfriends' name (he had got it for her via computer).....and so on. AAAArrrg!

...off we headed for the corn palace in S. Dakota. ...it was getting dark as we approached town. LB and I took turns driving and snapping pics of the sunset.




...The next morning we headed out toward the Black Hills... the first big stop in LB's itinerary of 7 "must do" items. It was now Wednesday morning. and I had to be back by Sunday at
6 am., no later. Here's pics of...... uh, ((((Luloo))) help me out here. (my map is buried in a pile of stuff in the closet we call a bedroom.)....I think the name of the city starts with a "W"....

...We did about 30 miles on an interstate heading west, then I found a 2 lane shortcut that dropped us a little bit south, and another one that had a speed limit of 55mph (uh yeah, if you happened to be in a hovercraft)...and then finally...a road to the back door into the Rosebud reservation, and the town of St. Fransis, which was drawing me like ( insert metaphore) .

...I'd also poked around here before...this is a spot near where I believe (after much research) Crazy Horse was buried, by his father. Nobody knows for sure....and there was only one witness....

Lord God .. I have no idea what town with a "W" you might have been near - out by the Black Hills?? I fetch my map - no clue - the only map I have handy is a World Atlas - and the only towns listed are Custer, Rapid City, Sturgis (vroom vroom), Box Elder (it is true ~ BOX ELDER) .... and one town called Wind Cave. I know of Watertown on the way to Mitchell & the Corn Palace.

ha ha ha ... My mom is from SoDak - we spent nuff time with my Grandparents on road trips out and about ... my Grandfather had an 'EAGLE EYE' for spotting wildlife .... it was incredible ~

Caught a lazer show there after a night blast, right after we secured lodging in Custer. ...went back the next morning for about 2 hrs. They've come a long way since I was last there!....Inspiring!!!!....a whole economy complete with a medical school is developing,....and it all started with an idea, one willing man, and a little over $100.....and it dwarfs every other monument in the world, including the pyramids.
