an incredible butterfly collection in the lodge





as we sat on the deck taking in the view, a creature emerged from the gardens looking for handouts...the bartender said he was looking for bananas and promptly went to get one for our entertainment. This is a pizote.

so back to the story............

i had so wanted to visit a waterfall in the town of La Fortuna, but when i say the rains came that afternoon, i'm not kidding. we just went back to our cabina and wandered from front porch to back watching the birds.





this little guy spent an hour flailing himself against the window, we finally figured out that he just loved himself. lol

yeah...it poured all night. was glad to have a car so we could drive ourselves down to the restaurant on the property.

the whole property here was nicely lanscaped...some marvelous collections of plants...but i disliked the paved roads and general size of the place. They did have some nice little hotsprings we soaked in the first night we arrived. Really lovely in the evening with soft lighting and steam rising from the pools.





they have trails and a canopy tour on the property as well....was really a shame we couldn't partake in more of the activities in this area. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif[/img]

i have one of these at home in a pot....it's no where near the size of this stand!



yep, those are orchids...amazing...and this really isn't even the blooming season.
