oh sure seveen, blame it on me...lol

i did some wading, but not a full blown swim...only because i just didn't feel to be in a wet suit all day. I'm telling you, its so moist there, i don't know how they manage to dry their clothes. i saw a few clotheslines with roofs over them!

do check it out seveen...i found the change refreshing...the monkeys would be ever entertaining for abu.

the next day, we did indeed, hire a guide to take us through the National Park. he was informative and able to spot wildlife we may not have spotted. i would like to have had more time to explore on my own...was already regretting we'd be leaving this area in the morning.

Flanders, our guide, carried a spotting scope. he was able to take a few nice pics by shooting thru his scope for me.

leaf cutter ants...we were told they take the leaves home to make a compost pile, from which they'll wait for mushrooms to sprout. fascinating marching along in a long line.



and of course...more monkeys. you don't want to leave your stuff abandoned on the beach or you stand a chance of losing it to the monkeys.

nuff great roads, trails and paths on the hotel property...you could see plenty of wildlife right there, we delighted at beckoning folks down at the pool when we spied something in the trees...back at the hotel sucking up the last bits of veranda time.

its an ecologically idyllic place... would be a perfect match if i could do that and then head to a neighboring latin american country with an idigenous culture................. guess you cant have it all...

i think this is a perfect spot for you.. so glad you took the bull by the horns.. and went somewhere new.....

jamaica is home. a special place for us all .. a place i will never tire of... but there is a huge incredible planet out there.. and the taste and thirst for other cultures and environs is just so fantastic

do i get to see a photo of the rocking chair?

actually that's an old plane they were getting ready to put up on a metal structure...apparently they plan to make another restaurant similar to the one they already have on the hill. Anybody recognize this flag? Closest i can come is a civil ensign from Columbia.




the restaurant on the hill is named El Avion and is made from an interesting item from the sordid past that is the Iran-Contra affair. It's a 1954 Fairchild C-123. It was purchased for the Nicaraguan Contras by the U.S. and was being readied in a hangar at the San Jose airport. But when the Iran-Contra scandal broke, the plane never made it to Nicargua and was abandoned in San Jose. The owners of Costa Verde bought it and hauled it in pcs to Manuel Antonio, where they created the restaurant known locally as Ollie's Folly.

we'll miss this place...but a road trip awaits us. THIS rocker nina. We ended up buying one of these at the airport, expecting it to arrive in a week or so. As you'll see, they're quintessential Costa Rica....made of mahogony and leather...very comfy.





first half of this adventure has come to a close...i need to upload more pics before i can continue. Up next, a 5 hour drive to La Fortuna and the Arenal Volcano...NOT without a few wrong turns...lol
