Am just wondering if she still renewing her 'green card' after all these years.
This is y I'm saying, something for SURE, aint right.
The mother seems to have her UK Citizenship. (maybe - yes - no; who knows)
U want to tell me they never had a conversation about citizenship? Why wld she get hers, but he not get his? Why wld he travel to JA but she never mention the subect of proper documents to come back into the UK ... ?
Whole thing seems a little odd - fishy. That or he wins the award for most naive person of the month.

i have an uncle dat guh england round the same time as this man and mussie leff england the fuss time not so long ago. at least fi him papers seem to be in order.Comment

Sooooooo sloppy. Why on earth the reporter didn't include this in the original story on Tuesday is beyond me. From today's follow up in the newspaper:
"He admitted that he never applied for British citizenship during all his years in England and that he travelled to Jamaica on a Jamaican passport that he applied for and received shortly before his trip."
Tho it was clear to me and others, tt would've fully clarified to the readers that it wasn't the UK that was at fault.
And so lazy too - the reporter should've expounded on Jamaican Independence from England and exactly what immigration consequences came along with that event.
Anyway, like I posted yesterday - LAWYER, PRESS, COMPASSION. Seems he may find someone with some sense who'll do the right thing.Comment

Thanks for sharing all the facts. As them say "tory come to bum". I hope he is able to get back to England. I think the PR campaign would put the pressure on. Interview with his children, grandchildren and relatives in England etc.Out of Many One People Online

Br Govt gives urgent attention to stranded man's case
"We are aware of the case. I was sorry to read about Mr Bogle's situation today," British High Commissioner David Fitton told the Jamaica Observer yesterday after seeing the newspaper's front page story.
"I have asked colleagues in UK Visas and Immigration to review the case urgently. I cannot really comment any further on an individual case for reasons of privacy," Fitton added.
Bogle, who left Jamaica in 1957 when he was seven years old, arrived in the island on September 29, 2014 on a two-week visit to see the land of his birth, given that he had not travelled since going to England.
However, when he got to Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay on October 13 last year to take a return flight to England, he was told by Immigration officials that they could not allow him to leave.
"I got the shock of my life when I was turned back and told by authorities that I would have to have a visa to leave the country," Bogle told the Observer on Monday.
He admitted that he never applied for British citizenship during all his years in England and that he travelled to Jamaica on a Jamaican passport that he applied for and received shortly before his trip.
"Since I migrated at age seven I have never travelled and never had any intention to. It was after I retired I decided to take a trip to Jamaica to see what the country was like," Bogle said.

They were all encouraged to take out passport for new country. You know a lot a people living in England at that time never understand the ramifications. So you go to sleep on Aug. 5, 1962 a British citizen and you wake up the next morning Aug. 6 and you have now become a Jamaican. It vexed my father to know end he kept insisting that he was a British Citizen (having been recruited and fought in war) and since he was born in 1911 but the British Government said no you are now a Jamaican. Eventually he took out his citizenship. Some people fell through the cracks - I can see how this happened to this poor man.Comment

seem to remember discussion of Enoch Powell's racist agenda when I was at UWI I have 4 uncles who migrated to England during and after WWII. One was a rabid socialist

No Trop - he didn't have a proper immigration status at all. Based on the article, he wasn't a british citizen. He was a Jamaican Citizen living in England who never traveled outside of England.
