i don't know about 'black focused' but schools in the community (or out) can do a better job of teaching black youths consciousness...i don't know about canada but in the u.s. if i did not learn certain things for myself i would have been a damn fool from the school systems (mis)education...especially for a child that goes to a majority white/other school...you would have thought blacks just recently came out of savagery and did nothing in history...the whole system is set up to fail black yuouth so schools that teach them a little consciousness can't be that bad of an idea...
the fact that so many blacks now feel good about themselves because of one man in 2008 is very telling...that means for all this time before that many of them been walking around with low self-esteem; not good

And I don't think anyone suggests anyone to trust someone based on skin colour.
But the questions being raised here and the feeling over the black focused schools, is that peeps are totally against it.

So I suppose you've gone to the board then and question them about the cirriculum the sameway your questioning black people.

I don't see anyone with picket signs about what they are teahing our youth but when black people offer a different approach for the youth to begin to know themselves more people are against it before it start.

si mi know enuff fi know that mi dont know the American youth experience.
Mi neva grow up inna obvious racial environment, suh mi know that mi dont understand fully how a black person growning up in this a predominantly white society feels.
A guess because many of us who grew up in Jamaica never grew up to think that we are second or third class citizens because of the color of our skin, we never really developed that slavery mentality.

In a nutshell, you trying to school me is almost like a slave trying to tell a free man what its like to be free.
