i waqtched the show last night on bet...

i read both 'shower posse' and 'born fi dead';

i can understand why someone would want to sue over 'born fi dead';

the author took incredible liberty on a lot of things...

i think she might have been on the program last night...
she pointed out how seaga gave the euology at jim brown's funeral

well she basically implied that gangs like shower were in bed with seaga (i guess showing up at jim brown's funeral did little to dispel that notion), and other gangs with manley;
she made the case that the gangs &amp; political parties were totally in cahoots with each other which there is some truth to that, but some things she wrote i had a problem with...

but the politrix thing in j-a well corrupt no doubt

Basically..he was a gangster. Used the gang to provide 'enforcement' for the party.

to be fair he wrote about some of the things jim brown did...i don't hink he made him out as a hero in the book;
yes it was biased toward his father but vivian is a complex and intriguing character...
started all those businesses in ochi &amp; cactus nightclub

But Mutty, as a resident of NYC in the 80's, the book will bring back memories of things that were happening back then. She names people, places (all those NYC hotspots), and goes over several police cases from back then.

As I was reading, I remember nodding my head..oh yeah, I remember that, and yep, that was the runnings at that spot on Flatbush ave, etc.

I gave my away to someone in JA. I think she ripped off the cover for fear of being caught reading the book...its that deep over there. She had told me to rip off the cover before I landed, because a customs agent would confiscate it if found.

The Shower Posse did not originate out of Jamaica. The Shower Posse was not a JLP Gang even though most of the principals were Jamaican.

The Shower posse had members from all Political Parties in based in Jamaica as well as Caribbean and Central American Members, I know that for a fact. I was not in the Gang but I know folks who were and worked with the Shower Posse.

The term Shower actually started with Cow Lloyd and the massive from Matthews Lane in New York, it was just a term kicked around in the clubs that meant buying the whole bar. It then turned out that Jim Brown and Vivian were bigger spenders so the massive that formed got the name.

Long before Jim Brown ever was a gangster in the USA he made his name in Jamaica. The USA Gang and the Jamaican Political Scene was completely different though featuring some of the same actors.

I don't think Eddie Blinds is suing anyone but he should.
I know someone housed the author of one of the books in question for two weeks when she was so-called researching the story. He said that lady is not to be trusted.

Sadly my sister ran with a member of that gang she was his star girl. I remember going to high here in the Bronx and my sista would come home with stuff.(expensive clothes, etc.) Never thought much of it cause I was in a depressive state of mind. Moving from Kingston and great high school Campion to come to this. I was not impressed. I asked her last night how she knew them she said she knew them from when they attended KC and St. G. I was like hmmmmmmm........well enough said...she won't talk to me much about that time in her life though....

That is the problem the actual characters in the drama don't speak and leave a whole bunch of hearsay and speculations out there!

The irony to this was that Vivian Blake was living right around the corner from where we lived in the Bronx when I was a kid. As a kid, I may have walked past this man a few times in the street.
