I taught college there too, and know that the whole class would never turn on a teacher if he was not on danger of physically harming the student.
He said he was fixing the or arranging the desks. If a child is sleeping on it. It is still a child and this child is not sleeping because he intended to be disruptive.
He us sleeping because he has problems.
The teacher should not disturb the desk in a way that is likely to harm him.
It is said that the child fell an the desk hit another child, the violent way the teacher removed It.
He seem to be intent on harming the child,probably due to being annoyed. That teacher need counselling.
He is probably overstressed,but that should be dealt with,before he get to the point where exploded so violently.
<span style="font-weight: bold"> I am also saying that children today have a higher expectation from adults social interaction,that children of previous generations accepted. They expects to be treated more humanely and is willing to defend it when the treatment falls below their expectation. their method may not be up to par,but they are showing some of the mental attitude necessary for any repressed people with proper training to achieve their position of leadership on the world </span>
How it relate to the Jamaican wae eiots were Ht just thr act of rearranging the chairs. It is his behavoor an attitude to the children wgile ding so. The Jamaicans rioted when treated anything less than equal to the whites.
That has always thr big cause of resentment towards us ann the Barbadians. They usually claim that we make trouble when we resentt beuing treat inhuman, and resist it. And some were dumb enough to confront us abiut. The strange thing is that the Jamaicans Usially fight for the rights, but they are aklways quick to gett the benefits.

but mi still nuh beleive all him talking bout ..

How do we know he (Teacher ) was violent .. cause danger to a sleeping child .. or exploded ???

some children have no sense of etiquette ..
so anything they deem disruptive to their environment ..
is a cause for confrontation ..

be it from teacher or parents ..

i also went to school in Jamaica ..
my brother and sister and a few friends there are teachers ..
and they and their contemporaries that i have met are professionals in their classroom behaviour ..

the desk may have fallen ..
considering the amount of broken furniture in classrooms ..
but i do not think the teacher meant to harm or injure the kid
or anyone in his classroom ..

but i may be swinging from the ceiling here ..
who knows the heart of man ..

Anyway I still say that teachers, <span style="text-decoration: underline">generally speaking</span>, where of a different (read 'better') calibre than teachers today.

But then again, so were students...

</div></div>The Race of persons involved is never the problem.That was not why the Jamaica laborers rioted nor was it necessary for the violent reaction of the children.
What caused the reaction is the way they were treated,on both cases.And as i have been saying,Jamaicans do not care if the the person is of any other race. They are sumply violently intollerant to being treated <span style="font-weight: bold">inhumanely</span>
they would be as violent whether the person is white, balck or no colour at all.
It just so happrn inthe case of the white soldiers, they treated fellow whites humanely, while treating black Jamaicans like subhumans the way they were use to treating the blacks all their lives.
It just so happens that Jamaican blacks would not accept that. Even after they shot ank killed some of them.

They had to change the way they treated them, and that was in face of armed soldiers during a war.

But then again, so were students... </div></div>That is if better means the use of violence (beating) and threats of beating to manage children. What that does is to supress the childrens self esteem,and create less assertive citizens.

those are peoples children. In my time ar school,my parents,or grand parents would never accept it,neither would I with my children.

Different caliber of students too.

</div></div>In Jamaica we really had 2 distinct classes then. I remember i grand mother threatened to sue the KC management regarding one of my cousins experience with a violent young teacher, and they quickly settled it including firing him,but during that same time the majority were battered to the point of submission. I suppose they were preparing each group for different tasks in the business of nation building.
